Big lag when 80% players online - help
Hi,
In my server, the capacity is for 100 players on line. But, when 80 or 90 is on line, start a big lag to connect in server. The vault or warehouse need almost 1 minute to open. Players out cant login or they need wait ultil some players logout in order the new player can login. The server is not full, the lag start when it have 80 oi 90% of its capacity. I know that some servers have this lag issue too but I cant find a solution for it until now. My server is restrict to grow up.
Any help will be very nice.

No. Machine is not the problem. Its new dedicated server dual core 4gb ram with 100mpbs bandwith. Same for windows and only sql server running on it. And I have bought same config as a br server who has 900 players on line and don't have this problem. I just can't ask them for a solutin cause they dont have this problem. They have 5 channels almost all full but not login lag problem. Im using server files repack -V2 from chumpywumpy and re-starting CashDBAgent every 30 minutes in crontab and GlobalDBAgent every 10 minuts in order to prevent players can't enter in server.
Any other idea about it? Thanks for answer.

This is going to be a database tuning problem i would guess. You need to use the sql profiler to see if the bottleneck is server end of database end.

its not way to have 900 players online without lag with 4gb ram.
sorry but not.
take a look on your logs files, maibe are to big and that its getting trouble on write/read all the time.
aother option if you have high latency between server and sql. Make some pings and post here.

even if I delete all logs and restart server, when 80 players is on line start laging. Linux and windows machine are in same datacenter with 1ms ping.

check how much memory you allow mssql to eat when its running.
you can check this from propeties.
on linux, do this when you have 20/30 players and do it again when you have 80 players
write on console: top
and see who its eating your machine.

Sry, im noob in linux and a don't know how to check memory consumes in linux and, how you can see in picture above, no more than 68/70 players can enter even with 100 or 300 players allowed in maxusers property.
Tonight happen again. When server was with almost 70 players on line it just stay users waiting a long time to login. I mean, players need wait almost 3 minuts to enter. The vault needs almost 1 minut to open and messages is lagged like 1 minut too.
Here is windows ressource consuming during this lag.

well the best option its try find where the error its.
that means, if its your sql or its your linux box.
for what you say look like a sql lag problem, maibe you have some process eating to much process time.
if you are running sql 2000, take a look on:
management -> current activity -> process info
and see if you have a process take in to much time to finish they work.
At less you set the option nolock on the query, sql server block all the process over a table when you make a update or a insert over her. Then, others operations (like select or insert, update, etc) must wait until this operation finish to keep working.
but its strange, i just see this happend on dbs with... i dont know, millons of rows.
And more strange, i have a server with 2k players and dont lag on login :|

that bandwidth 100mbps download? upload? maybe your upload is small, just only your download is 100mbps..

Your server couldn't take so much and so quick UpdateInterval :that is why your server lag like that
Plus did u put the memory usage on the vmware when you install?

Not using Vmware. Are 2 machines in same datacenter. One with linux and only cabal server running and other pc same config for windows only for SQL server.
I dont know how to make mesure of memory ressource in linux..:blush:

you have some stuff to try.
first delete the oficial's cron's.
crontab -e
and delete all (except the ones added by you).
i told you this becouse on your top you have copytodb_trc.sh for example.
on your world:
GameGuardInterval=0
NoResponseTimeout=0
and you must try incress your speedhack time becouse now, every one with latency>15 its speedhacker :p
SpeedHackCheckTime=1500
MaxAttackHackTime=30500
CheckSkillTimeHackScope=6500

Thanks for all tips, I will do it after test the first tips from plemaster and error0024. So this way I will know if UpdateInterval is the bad guy who are laggin my server :)

based on canada.
my friend server almost 100+ online without lagg. most important is internet speed. ofcourse >.<

internet speed: 100mbps 100 upload, 100 download.
OS: centOS 4.7 (very slow), Thinking change to opensuse or kubuntu.
Today with 65 players on no laggin server but... DbAgentServer have to be restarted every 5 minuts now :(:
Maybe the solution is the old system. Format and reinstall from zero.:blushing:

dont reinstall xD, just take a look on logs to see why dbagent its restarting.
but never happend to me. :|
