how do you know that by multiplying 0 by 2 you will obtain a negative temperature? Also, tomorrow should be twice as cold, so for example you can't wear the same things at 0 degrees that you do for example at -40. :)

that's what i thought, but as you see you obtain a positive temperature, so 17 cant be a valid answer, if you split it into 2, you get 16 degrees F, witch is about -8.8 C

the problem here is that the concept of 'twice as cold' doesn't really make much sense. Fahrenheit and Celsius are just arbitrary man made units of measurement. Outside of them, there is not really such a thing as 'twice as cold'.

For example, on paper it may seem that 100 Fahrenheit is twice as hot as 50 Fahrenheit. But 50 degrees Fahrenheit = 10 degrees Celsius, and 100 degrees Fahrenheit = 37.7777778 degrees Celsius. So if you're going by Celsius, you've nearly 'quadrupled' the temperature, whereas with Fahrenheit you've merely 'doubled' it. In reality, they're just numbers, and the subjective feeling of temperature can't meaningfully be quantified in terms of "double" or "quadruple".

How about the fact that cold is actually a relative term, cold is a opinion, so twice as cold is also a opinion.

Our normal body temperature is about 37 degrees celcius, if you were to use cold and hot in these terms then you should consider 18,5 degrees as twice as cold, and 74 degrees as twice as hot, but seeing as these are relative terms we consider those temperatures as very different. 74 degrees would feel like what, 50 times as hot?
