Ascent vs. Mangos
I've got a Mangos server up and running and it all works very well and is looking promising.
But, I'm just wondering what the difference is between Ascent and Mangos. Which is more developed, more supported, less buggy?
If I stick with Mangos, is it best to go for the project rage release or the regular Mangos release?
Thanks,
Craig.

Re: Ascent vs. Mangos
Buggy and developed are a matter of perspective, that perspective usually depends on what version of Wow you want to support.
I started with Ascent, and it WAS ideal for server admins that needed lots of control over their wow server. There is a lot more options/configurations needed with a Ascent setup.
However, some time ago the developer or a develop of ascent got upset about people using his code and calling it there own, about that same time the ideal DB for ascent was NCDB which is now closed source and/or slow release cycles.
I prefer Mangos now. development seems faster, and the game *seems* to look better, and they are leading the way with the lasted wow releases.
As far as releases go, it depends on how much time you want to spend setting up mangos. Repacks often shorten that time, and provide you everything you need to get up and running. I fyou compile the core yourself...you have to pull down the DB too.
Bottomline is It all depends on what your going for.

Re: Ascent vs. Mangos
Thanks for the reply.
I think I'll stick with Mangos for now, it seems better supported, more developed and a lot easier to use (especially with a repack).
Not found any major bugs in Mangos yet :)
