[guide] port forwarding!!!
All The credit goes to: Innovative from the maple story section. (JUST REPOSTED IT CAUSE SOME OF THE GUNZ PEOPLE HERE ARE HAVING SOME TROUBLE WITH IT, AND THEY NEED TO STOP ASKING!!)
Okay, since I have been asked on countless occasions how to port forward I have decided to make a simple guide on how to port forward your basic router.
The following guide was made using a Buffalo router.
This will NOT tell your specifically how to port forward your model router but will give you the gist of the know how.
Lets get started.
Step One-
Create a shortcut to "cmd" on your desktop.
Open up the shortcut and you should see a black box. [dont panic, its nothing bad]

Step Two-
In the black box, type the following "ipconfig" and note down your "Default Gateway" and "IP Address" under your "Ethernet Adapter"

Step Three-
Open up Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera or any other internet browser you prefer and enter the following, "http://defaultgateway".
Where "defaultgateway" is the numbers of your default gateway you noted down earlier.
This should then give you a prompt for a username and password, if you have changed your routers username or password, by default it should be:
Username: root
Password: [blank]
or
Username: admin
Password: admin
or
Username: admin
Password: password or pass
If you have changed the credentials, enter them in.
If none of your logins work, you have a problem...

Step Four-
You should have entered your routers main configuration page.
Now for the tricky part.
Scour around the settings and options and try and locate a link for:
Port Mapping
Port Forwarding
NAT or Network Address Translation
[If your router has other names for it, please post]

Step Five-
After pressing the link you will be directed to a page with alot of boxes and numbers.
Again, scour around for boxes with a label "TCP" and "UDP" in these boxes enter the ports you want to forward.
If instead you are given two boxes asking you to state a Start and End port, in both boxes enter the same port if you don't to port forward a range. For example:
Code:
Start End
8484 8484
Example with NO range.
or
Code:
Start End
8484 9000
Example with range from 8484 to 9000.

Step Six-
You will then be asked what your LAN IP address is, enter this in.
Usually it will already be entered and available as a radio button.

Step Seven-
Press Ok and you should have port forwarded that particular port/s!
