teenagers struggling with "the meaning of life"
Congratulations, you have realized meaninglessness. This is truly a very basic concept to wrap your head around.
Now, move the fuck on and try and expand your spectrum of thought. I'm tired of "why try?" I'm tired of the apathy and I'm tired of teenagers giving up prematurely in their efforts to expand their mind. Understanding the nothingness of everything is essentially the beginning - now that you know this, feel free to create and imagine and fingerpaint all over your small, but very valuable canvas. Make it something beautiful or ugly or shocking or terrible. But don't leave it blank just because "it all means nothing in the end." We aren't at the end yet and you aren't fully realized or enlightened just because you choose to be idle - you're kind of just a downer.
I know that modest mouse told you to build nothing out of something, but realize that there is a time for every paradigm. Feel existential some days, feel charged and overzealous with purpose on others, and feel just plain content, with an eye fixed toward the better, on most days.
"Hitting bottom isn't a weekend retreat, it's not a god damn seminar."
Whoa, positivity. this feels...weird.

Aw steezieboy.
You're positive for a change! How cute :).
*pinches cheek*
Although you are very right. I have never honestly asked myself the 'meaning of life'. We live to love and learn and well live the experiences. Why question it and trouble yourself with it o.O.

Re: teenagers struggling with "the meaning of life"
Honestly, I'm tired of people asking themselves what the meaning of life is, and then getting depressed because they can't figure it out. Get over yourselves, start enjoying life; not question it.

Re: teenagers struggling with "the meaning of life"
THATS WHAT I JUST SAID!

Re: teenagers struggling with "the meaning of life"

Re: teenagers struggling with "the meaning of life"
Its kind of hard not to think of the meaning of life, especially being a high schooler. At least, in my school in literature were reading tons of things like the Iliad, odyssey, Aenid, etc. And we usually talk about the meaning of life they had and shit. Plus as a teenager as we start getting older we usually study life, what people do, whats the reason were here and what should we do to maximize our life, etc. Not to say without that I wouldn't be thinking of that, sort of comes along with having major depression.
But, as said in another thread, which I think was a long time ago, humans want to feel like they are above everything else, which is why we want a meaning, its sort of hard for people to get out of that train of thought.

But, what does that mean?
Meaning. Considering we're trying to define something which hasn't been defined, and isn't ready to be socially defined, it can only mean something to us individually.
There's is no meaning of life. There's a 'perspective' of life, or a 'theory' of living life.

Re: teenagers struggling with "the meaning of life"
Whats Wrong for Teenagers thinking about the meaning to "Life"? Its better then going out to smoke and Drink, Thinking your cool. I agree that you should enjoy your life. Teenagers go through a stage called "Puberty" your growing into a adult and in this period you start gaining experience and becoming mature. I

I don't really care if I know the meaning or not because I just don't care.
You can call me that, well, it's your opinion. Surprisingly, it's always you.

I plainly don't give a fuck about the bitch named life, and try to ignore the concept of its existance as much as possible.

For the win :D Oh.
No one needs to have the same shit like other's and follow the "right" way because there's no such things as a right one way path. Or anything fuckenn close.

Re: teenagers struggling with "the meaning of life"
Well, as I see it, teenagers these days are pointlessly depressed over some dumbshit, I mean come on, move on, we've all had tough shit, it just makes you more of a pussy to dwell on something that's mostly meaningless.

When I say people, I'm mainly focusing on teenagers. They question why they're living, along with the meaning of life. I personally don't see a purpose in doing that. You're wasting your time getting depressed, crying to your journal, and asking yourself why you don't have any friends. When in actuality, people like you, and there is no exact meaning of life.
I've taken these two definitions from definr, because they explain well.
Quote:
2: the course of existence of an individual; the actions and
events that occur in living; "he hoped for a new life in
Australia"; "he wanted to live his own life without
interference from others"
3: the experience of living; the course of human events and
activities; "he could no longer cope with the complexities
of life" [syn: living]
The meaning of life...is to live. To breathe, reproduce, and die.

No one ever mentioned smoking or drinking. Smoking and drinking is a way of enjoying your life and having a good time, but it should never become your life. Hey, what's wrong with hanging with a few friends, toking up, and forgetting about your troubles? Nothing at all in my opinion. But this isn't a discussion about smoking and drinking.
I agree with you questioning things is a part of life, but I find no reason in questioning it.

Re: teenagers struggling with "the meaning of life"

There is no purpose really, but who cares? Just make it a good one!

haha the part of the journal made me laugh, just imagine a 17 year old kid with that , ajajaj xD
In the end my Reflexion is this one , i think this kids today , have too much influence from the media and instead of living their own life they take anything that comes from the out side and that is killing this generation

Re: teenagers struggling with "the meaning of life"
