1-20 is awesome, beyond that it gets boring.
Ask pretty much anyone who has played it and they will know what I'm talking about. Scenarios become a joke and since you have to do more and more to level it gets very repetitive when everyone just does one scenario over and over. There is far to much CC and dps and not enough healing, so zergs win EVERY time. Strategy means nothing if you don't have a big zerg to back it up, and then it's impossible to control the zerg anyway.
It's worth playing 1-20, as it's a great game at that point. Each class has a useful role and everyone has a chance to help. Scenarios are small and fast, and there is always a chance to win and loose. If you spend the month playing, I'd suggest doing 1-18ish then re-role an alt and continue that. Imo you will have far more fun that just doing 1-40 and realising the game sucks :p
I got borred around level 32. I'm over to AoC again, much better than when I last played. At least there is some action around there.
Pretty much sums it up. Its a really great game and some of the ideas they have put into the classes are really interesting, but once you start to level past 20 it starts to get a bit boring to the point you end up not logging on. I'm sure its probably a little better than it was before, I played about 1 week after launch but haven't kept up to date with news.
I'll play a character until I get bored with it, then start a new one.
I do that on almost every game, anyways.
What's a fun starter class, something good for beginners?
Order should be here in a few hours.
Really depends on your playstyle, if you like hybrids than that dps and heal or pure dps that just hit shit.
Nope, any time you play alliance or destruction you will get burnt. Personally got a witch elf to 15/15 and quit once the scenarios where filled with wizards. My class deals bleed out, and my bleed out was the fastest in any scenario, but finally i quit before the new patch was being tested, due to BS of the game. For one, there wasn't any point in me taking keeps and castles, or doing the public quests, because in scenarios came the best items. Defeating people in the scenario was the only real fun, but it became alliance sided. I had alliance on another server, and it was the same BS, just that the higher AoE players dominated while the weaker ones got punished.
Game has been here, and installed it before I went out.
Once I got to where I was, I just thought that I should've started the patcher before I left.
Oh well, now I get the joy of waiting for this incredibly slow patcher to finish.
weee.
Might try Sorceress first, probably will.
Bright Wizard doesn't look bad, but I read that a lot of people make that class.
Witch Hunter looks pretty cool, and so does the .. dual-sword High Elf class thing.
Forgot the name.
youll have fun as bright wizards and healers dominate the game. the dps damage on the healer is unbeleivably high, almost as if it can take out a tank in a few seconds. Never go tank class, because some noob wizard will dominate you. sorcerer is ok, til you get higher, then around 15 it really blows. Experience what side / class works best with you, else you'll find it hard to even stare at warhammer. My witch elf was perfect for me, til the bright wizard invasion came. I want to kill the idiots for making alliance dps the best in the game, instead of balancing the classes. A third grader can use a BW or Healer and still dominate in RVR comapred to someone with another class.
I'm trying to find a fun RVR class.
I did it for the first time today, and I freaking love it.
Is a Shaman a good one to go?
I dont mind being support or damage, just something that wont get their ass kicked.
(I got my ass kicked several times as a Sorceress, partially because my Destruction team I had failed hard. They wouldn't communicate, and didnt know how to work together. They would just run into a mob of the damn Order and bam.)
Oh, and I dont mind it being Order either.
Just something good. :)
Oh wait.
I dont know if what I did was RVR. o__o
It was the Nordenwatch Scenario.
Is that RVR? >_>
Anyways, playing a High Elf right now.
Healing is the shit, my parties in the scenarios love me for it.
Baha. HoTs then just spam the others.
weee.
:D
Yes shaman is great, yes Nordenwatch is a RvR scenario, yes you will get raped by everyone as a sorceress but you will rape everyone else, that is your trade off.
i was ready to quit the game till i re rolled on a new server, now im playing sceanrios all the time with hardly any wait inbetween, there are always people around to play public quests and open RvR is going on 24/7.
moving to a more populated server has made the game 500x more fun, im now on my 5th character (the 1st o rolled on this new server) and im loving it, im playing an archmage healer / ranged dps and my wife ria / piasa is laying a melee dps / tank the blade dancer and man its awesome fun
this game ripped off another game's reward system....just coz the other game isn't english doesn't mean they can do it D:<
WO is a fail in my eyes zzz
Yee, I've been doing Arch mage Healing / landing random DoTs and sometimes attacking on the Destruction.
What other class has DoTs? I'm beginning to like them a lot.
:)
Exy is a traitor to destruction! :(
BWs used to dominate the game with DoTs+constant crits, but have been nerfed to hell and back. Sorc however have been boosted and are now probably a bit better than BWs, which is great considering how completely OPed BWs were originally.
WE are brilliantly fun, you will die constantly, but some times you can take a couple of people out before that happens. Trying to take out people who have recently died and running back to meet their zerg is the best bet, easy pray :p
Healers staff off decent, but as the dps classes get more skills, with healing debuffs, they become completely underpowered. The DPS as a healer is pretty much non existent at higher levels, and they don't have nearly enough utility to even be considered a replacement for a real DPS even if they spec fully into their DPS tree (which is just a waste!) It's quite depressing really, you start off being able to do everything a DPS class can do and heal as well, thus bringing a huge amount to a group, but suddenly it feels like you become a joke (hitting a new tier generally) and don't nearly help out as much as you do only one or two levels ago compared to other classes.
Oh and Squig Herders are awesome! :p
I cant stand the Greenskins, I dont know why.
Playing a Magus now, got it to my highest rank overall.
Loving it, really, but like all casters I'm made of glass.
Though I dish out nice damage, my Minion and I, but I also take it all back if someone gets close enough.
