Couldn't think of where else to post this, but recently, in chemistry, we were doin states of matter and about enthralpys (melting / boiling points ) and i mentioned sublimation, and my teacher couldn't explain why it happens.
Was just curious if anyone here can.
i could if i wasn't to lazy in getting my old chemistry notes >.<

I did, there's way too many definitions, not enough of why it happens, my teacher said he'll give extra effort for the peoplet that can get the explenation. I've looked in some encyclopedias, but not much, something about a pressure constant, but i just want a more in depth reason, like why at perticular enthralpies etcQuote:

You'll see 2 results. I've had a quick breeze of them.
The "phase diagrams of pure substances" looks promising. It's a bit of a long read but the guy who wrote this is unbelievably thorough and accurate. If there's anything you might not understand on the page then there's usually a link to another part of the site that will explain it.
So yeh. It's a long read, but I'm pretty sure you'll find somekind of answer. Btw, read it fully from top to bottom. It makes more sense even if the first 3/4 may seem irrelevent.

Cheers dude, but the point of this thing is that we research it, and get it to further than just A level chemistry. He gave us a hint about electrons and the pressure constant, and something about enthralpy. Ps, things like that are sorta in my book :)Quote:

and bdw.. what are the characteristicsa of this "plasma" thing?
fire imo is more like a gas, but its true that it does have something different than the rest of the gasses. It relys on oxygen to live, all other gases dont, and therefore, it doesnt spread. It stays the same size (match, lighter) the more you feed it the bigger it gets (wild fires, ect.) and it needs wood or something to use as its core. What other examples are there of plasma things?
