* Reaction speeds one third faster

Reaction speed is a tricky one and i am not really sure this bit is even worth it. A mob will not "react" whilst it is in the middle of something else such as walking somewhere. It doesn't seem to be possible to reduce the distance of their walk when mobs are just randomly walking around so they will always finish at the intended destination before looking around for targets and reacting/chasing/attacking.

Walking speed can be increased but doing so looks stupid. Increasing the walk speed does not increase the walk animation speed and if you raise walking speed you seem to get a walk-teleport-walk-teleport effect. The mob will walk part of the way at normal speed and then teleport the rest of the distance.

we do exaclty this 3 months ago on elite, the major rason its the monster table its designed for players from levels 1 to 170, and when you change the level limit, player with level > 170 just can get exp from bosses.

soo to complete cath22 idea (8-)) maibe you need incress monster level to allow players > 170 to get exp.

Mob level is one of the things i am still playing with. Cath22 was keen to get this so i posted it before i was completely finished. I have a few other things i am experimenting with as well as an awful lot can be done with this idea so i thought i would let people finish it off themselves.

In the guide it says Chmod all file to 0777, does this mean ALL files? or just the common30.ini?

Edit: Is there a way to add a new channel called "Hardcore" in addition to what I already have? Instead of replacing one of the channel like the instruction asked?

The only way to change the channel names (afaik) is to either edit the ENC's, or inject your modified data after cabalmain.exe has loaded (which I think is what Elite CABAL does).

You must have edited something. The EXP for mob 0 (the top one) in the original files is 30 and both of your files have it as 40 ;)

I use Crimson editor (look at the bottom of the topic in my sig). The thing i like is that i can set the tab width so even if the column titles are really long you can still keep everything aligned.

I can see the changes in there. This will make the mobs about 33% tougher but i will be releasing a few more templates soon as i can probably make these easier than most other people as i wrote a script to do the changes. Unfortunately the script needs manual tweaking for every template so i can't really release the script.

When I open with openoffice.org calc and i use find and replace all it looks good and I save it as the same format but then it messes the file up completely I think because it organizes the data but doing that it messes it up? Do you know of a way I can edit/save data with openoffice where it will not make the data useless?

Don't use open office and don't edit under windows. Linux text files are in a different format to windows ones and editing in something that doesn't support unix format files will break them. Edit under linux or use a unix format compatible editor like Crimson.

Notepad will damage it in the same way.

you can also open them in notepad++(http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm) it can save in any format as wel as edit .exe files its free and all plugins are as wel

chumpy every time i try to make the common ini read for ex mobs30 istead of mobs.scp it will crash and give an ace acert any idea how to fix this?

Ace assert errors usually mean one or more files are in dos format not unix. The ones included here should be fine as many people have used them. Try running the dos2unix command on the files you have to be sure none of them are int he wrong format.

yes execept im using crimson and im sure its unix cuz every time it save files i set it to auto save to unix also with mobs.scp works fine

Check the format under the document menu. Sometimes it looks like it has been saved in unix and when you reload the file it's actually still in dos format.

For those having problems with connection issues here, just do this to be on the safe side and don't forget to backup your server files i.e your drop rate, exp rate so on and so on:

1) Copy over the Common30.ini and other files within your 'data' folder to your server.

From PuTTy or whatever:

2) type: 'chmod 0777 /root/cabal_install.sh'
3) type '/root/cabal_install.sh'

and then re-copy the common30.ini over again to cabal folder.

Yoh pIpOL.. I'm using this Hardcore Channel by Mr.Chump and it's awesome.. To me, I set this Hardcore Channel will also use a modded worldX-30-terrain... So I can make a diffrent drops from normal channels ^^ U can try guys...

I did a test and the common30.ini doesnt work i tried using it on my working channals but it doesn't work

It works for me and everyone else so you must be doing something wrong. Common30.ini won't work on it's own you need the other edited files to go with it.

What is the error that shows up in the logs?

i put everything in there respected places do i need to edit anything else?

I will let you off that double post as you did wait a week and it needed bringing to my attention. Congrats on probably the only double post i have every though was justified ;)

If you copied all the files right and also chmod them to 0777 (use winscp to set permissions by right-click and properties) the only thing you could have got wrong is changing the common.ini in the worldsvr ini to the hardcore one.

I don't do MSN but i'm almost always on RZ IRC (only there sensible hours in GMT). If you use Firefox install the Chatzilla extension and paste irc://irc.ragezone.com/cabal into your address bar.

i changed ch mod to 0777 but the channel i modded to be hardcore doesn't stay up

and when it does stay up the mobs are still the same no difference is there something else i need to change to make the mobs harder

It means one of your files (an mmap in the data_world dir i think) has an index value over 999. Check each of the files and look at the first column. Any lines higher than 999 delete them.

1 more thing how do i change the mob levels in the mobs.scp and the spawns to different locations i know what I'm asking maybe really easy for most people but it take me along time to understand stuff so if there is a guide or something on how to do that i would be happy if you could let me have it and again thanks for the help

The coordinates are in the mmap files in data_world and the column titles will tell you what each column does. Load the file into crimson editor and use View->Tab size to increase the tabs until everything lines up to make it easier to see what is what.

Mob levels are changed in the same way in mobs.scp, just increase the numbers to make them tougher.

question i made all the mobs level 200 and the channel doesn't start I'm guessing that's a problem.my question is whats the max level can i make a mob with out this happening? I'm thinking only to change the level of the mob I'm going to use for each map would that solve this problem?

i make 2 channels.. 1 channel for PK channel and other channel is Hardcore! how could i do that? when i follow the guide.. all channels are hardcore..

I preferred to use the 4x mobs quantity, many mobs more fun (woldX-harcore4x-mmap.csp) but need to edit a little bit for the missing quest mobs added in ep8 and also the missing 2 columns that causes not load the channel.

It would be much better if you would simply divide the SpawnInterval by 2 for the map mobs, instead of adding more of them.

Hi Chumpy, thanks for release. I use your 4x hardcore maps on your EP2 repack, when I try on EP8 server, i get following error.

I used crimson editor and ran macro for easy update EP2 mmap to EP8 mmap.

im having trouble converting some old ep2 custom mmap files to ep8.. Ive tried all the lazy ways and ive done it correctly but it seems it only spawns a few mobs per map and no mobs at all in some maps, yet if i just replace the speciesidx in an original ep8 mmap files with the desired mob it works fine, that leads me to believe that the new server files has some kind of checks on mobs x,y pos and if they dont match up it will not spawn the mob? Can anyone speculate??

Thats the differences between EP2 and EP8. Those with red colours you will have to add those lines in TDP hard core mmap.scp and mobs .scp and ofc add value for each. About the value you can copy the last 3 lines from EP8 mmap.scp and last 2lines from your EP8 mobs.scp this will make your life much easier but i haven't tried this yet so guys don't ask me xd
