I really hate how both sides keep killing each other and i really hope this does not need the US to take action. My friends also told me that this may lead to the beginning of WW3. I really hope USA wont join this because they will get into lots of trouble, while other countries will join too. I really dont want a draft or something

Israel didn't "ignore" the fact that this was a UN school - the problem is that the terrorists are based among the civilian populations, they are actually using them as human shields... I saw a video of a Hamas terrorist running away from sniper fire, and grabbing a kid on the way, and dragging him along with him - so that the kid will serve him as human shield against the snipers fire.

Really guys, it's all easier said than done. And I believe, that no one has the right to tell us what to do regarding our national safety issues, because you just have absolutely no clue about what's going on here, and what was going on here before...

But was it a crime? No.

What I don't get, is why are Hamas referred to as terrorists, when it was Israel that started all this. Hamas were, and still are, the elected government of the Gaza Strip, Israel is driving them out for their own benefits, they're trying to fight back, yet they're referred to as terrorists just because they're muslims? What about the Israeli militants that are causing so much chaos over nothing? Are they heroes to you?

Agreed and to the people saying they're casulties; If your country was having a war right now would you:
a) Risk your own civilians lives just because the enemy is hidden within the civilians of the oppositions country? So to protect their lives you have to risk/endanger some of your own lives.
b) Bomb their civilians to take the enemy out and put a higher chance of your civilians lives being protected? You sacrifice their lives to protect your people's lives.

I know what I would do. I agree with what Unleashed and Omer are saying. Let's just hope the USA don't stick their nose into this and make it worse.

War crimes are considered as such because they are intentionally carried out. Maybe not so much so these days, as people don't register the fact that they are considered war crimes (people in power, such as presidents, kings, etc).
And some of us opt to watch raw footage, so we do see what is happening (+ some of us opt to sign up as volunteer aid-workers to distribute food, clothing, medical supplies, and are set to go there as soon as our schooling is done, and summer hits, hence, some of us, will be able to speak a little bit more honestly in the future about this, although not quite yet (assuming we don't die)).

Yes, I think warcrimes are being committed. On both sides, obviously. Hamas purposefully targets civilians, but so does Israel; in retribution or as a sort of provoking things for themselves (potential excuses to perform another land grab, or even to install a permanent "peace force" of their own?), that is up for debate.

I noticed that Prime Minister Olmert had stated that the only solution is for the Hamas faction to never have weapons again, etc. Considering Hamas was democratically elected... that infers that he wants the Palestinians, in general, to be disarmed, for good. That seems to be a bit of a problem, as it infers he does not want them to be capable of self defense. To be fair... should the Palestinians be permanently disarmed, so should the Israelis be disarmed.

We're not dealing with a nation with organized government here (even though Gaza is independent of Israel) , it's Israel vs. the Hamas. the Hamas is a terrorist organization, just like the Taliban, for example, is.They have seized control over what we know as 'Palestine' a few years back. They are pretty much malevolent dictators like Saddam was, only that they seem to make Palestine into an actual nation and country.

Therefore, (well, at least I believe so), you never negotiate with a terrorist. NEVER EVER negotiate with a terrorist. It only encourages more acts of terror.

This is why I believe it is pointless to 'agree' on a cease-fire with them - they'll break it anyway, as soon as they are fully equipped again and all that, and will only be encouraged to launch more rockets, more frequently, and to even further cities.

The dog's ain't chained at all actually, as it roams free and terrorizes me, and when I tried to give it some meat as a gesture of kindness and peace, it tried to tear my whole arm off and just kept attacking me more aggressively. It went on and on for many days, so I couldn't take it anymore, and decided it is best to anesthetize the dog and put an end to this madness.



I will explain:

Gaza is not a part of the country Israel anymore, and neither are other Palestinian territories - we've withdrawn all our civilians from the Palestinian territories, gave them complete independence from Israel. We even gave them the whole region Gush Katif as a gesture of peace. Yet still, rockets and mortars launched by the Hamas keep falling in our cities, and now, they are utilizing rockets with longer range, and can attack further than they did before. Israel haven't responded to these attacks for 8 years or so by now. So basically, we just couldn't allow them to harm our civilians anymore, that's why the Israeli Defense Forces (AKA Israeli army) attacked Gaza - in order to stop the rocket fire, and rescue an Israeli soldier who was kidnapped a few years ago, not in pursuit of revenge or conquest. It is nothing more and nothing less.

You know...I've read this entire thread and it's so ironic how Hitlers name is part of the thread title. Since if it wasn't for Hitler then everything happening today and since this war first started wouldn't be taking place. I bet he's laughing in his grave.

No, there is no precedent for the Holocaust, and that is why it is called "the" Holocaust. Hell, before the term became popular 'holocaust' was a purely biblical word. It was reintroduced and redefined in common English to describe the Nazi's systematic destruction of the Jews. Why did this need to happen? Because there was simply no word that could sufficiently describe the atrocity. There had been nothing like it.
