[Solved] IIS and Account Managers.
I've searched around on the forum for this problem, but unfortunatley could not find a solution. I used to use vertigo server and followed Swezid's setup guide and everything worked. But when I set up IIS to use clans and got that done, I had a problem when I tried to setup any account manager.
First of all, the only thing you are able to do is create an account/login. Even if you have admin privleges. When you try to view characters from an existing account, the page will tell you there are no characters associated with that account. When you try to create a character, it will give me an error like this:
Warning: copy(C:/Users/DarknessPT/Desktop/DarknessPT Server/DataServer/userinfo/190/doran.dat) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Account\char.inc.php on line 51
Warning: fopen(C:/Users/DarknessPT/Desktop/DarknessPT Server/DataServer/userinfo/190/doran.dat) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Account\char.inc.php on line 54
Warning: feof(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Account\char.inc.php on line 55
I've tried XPT account manager and Paniel ArcadePT. Which were really the only decent ones available. The worked fine before installing IIS. So obviously it has something to do with settings in IIS or something. Anyone have an idea on what I can do here to solve this problem? Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Okay, so obviously it's permission settings. But I am new to IIS and run off Windows Vista. All the online guides are about XP. This is useless for me. So any info here is appreciated. And is it possible for clans to work without IIS and instead use a different webserver? I already hate this IIS -.-
Re: IIS and Account Managers.
Update! After 3 days of getting fairly pissed off, scouring the net for clues -- it got to the point where I was so frustrated I decided to try to host the site on a remote webhost and run the clan stuff on IIS. Well, I made the dumb mistake of forgetting that the account section wouldnt be able to work with the ODBC that way. So I get to thinking... Other people manage to do this somehow. There's got to be a way. Then I remembered, they used a seperate port for thier clan section on thier site!
So it hit me, I went into IIS manager and changed to port number to 8888 and ran the clan files on IIS. Then ran everything off of Vertigo Server because these files simply could not co-exist well. For some reason IIS will not connect the account files to the database properly and therefore render them useless. So anyways there's my solution. Probably not the best one, but it works.
