Full keypad just adds unnecessary bulk, weight and no doubt reduces the battery life.
You couldn't be more wrong. Why would a bunch of keys reduce the battery life?

Plus sony sucks, overpriced crap imo.
Sony didn't made this phone, HTC did, also seeing as when this phone was released together with the HTC Touch Pro, these were the most advanced phones around, yes the price is high, but in comparison it's quite normal, i mean really, if you say that about the iPhone (which is in the same price class), then i would definitely agree, but seeing as this phone has way more to offer and has better specs then the iPhone, i really don't see how you can call this overpriced crap. You honestly have no idea.

Try not to listen to Gohan too much, when he gets stuff he thinks it's the best in the world and won't show its faults. No offence Gohan, but you do it every time you get a new phone.
Seeing as this is my first new phone in 3 years, and seeing as that phone was just your average clamshell phone, i kinda doubt that. I have however always said that HTC makes the best PDA type phones, which i still stand 100% behind, and so does the majority of the PDA users.

Do you already own an mp3 player? More than likely you will keep using it, making all the music functions on the phone a moot point.
Yes i do own a MP3 player (crappy 1 though), and no, i don't use it anymore, why would i carry around more devices? The point of a phone like this is to carry less around. The reason why this phone actually works properly as a MP3 player is because it uses SDHC micro, which is really cheap these days, and with the 3,5mm plug you can just use your regular earphones.

Speed of taking the picture is also very important, if it takes 10sec to load it up and ages to actually take it, the moment will have passed before it's taken.
I'm the first person to normally say these camera's are pretty crap, but this 1 works really well for a phone, honestly i've made plenty of pictures with it, and they look really good considering. Taking the picture itself takes like a second, with the autofocus and stabilizing stuff you can make very nice pictures without having to click a million times.

The batteries need recharging pretty often and you will more than likely have to replace them before you replace the phone.
Go read up on these type of batteries, batteries these days are made to be recharged lots without real loss, instead they will just go dead after like 3-4 years, just like with laptops etc etc. Batteries that will die like you are talking about haven't been used in phones for like 5-6 years now atleast.

Then there is the cost of loosing or breaking it, while buying the cost is normally reduced because of contracts, to replace it they might make you pay the full amount
I got it insured against theft, breaking it etc etc for 2 euro a month.

Also check there is nothing new coming out soon, technology progresses very fast and can easily make you look like a fool for buying the old stuff. Don't just go out and buy it, but I guess you are considering it hence this post.
There is only 1 product similar to it on the market and that's the HTC Touch Pro, same hardware, there are some changes, some are better, some are worse, each their own choice.
In a few months the HTC Touch Pro 2 will come out though, that will be quite a bit nicer with the only downside that it's quite a bit bigger (ofcourse a bigger screen aswell)

If you use it as an mp3 player the battery won't last long at all. Basically whatever the talk time of the phone, maybe longer depending on how it is optimised. I know I used to use my old phone as an mp3 player at uni, but I ended up having to recharge it every day. That was just a simple phone, if the smart phone is using all its processing power while playing it won't last very long at all. I guess Gohan might be able to tell you how long the battery lasts from full charge and constant music, but I'd wager money on a real mp3 player lasting a lot longer. If you are willing to recharge it daily, this won't be a problem anyway, but I know I found it annoying and if I forgot no one could contact me for a day, or I'd have to go without music.
It really depends on how much music you listen to, on thursday and friday i listen to music for about 4-5 hours total, for atleast half of that time i'm also connected to the internet to read the news, sometimes a game aswell, i can go through these 2 days without having to recharge in between, though it does need to charge at the end.

Not to mention the bigger the screen the more likely it will get scratched
Hence i had my screenprotector in before i even had my phone. Ofcourse you should get a proper one, with mine you can't even see it's on there, then again i paid 8 euro for a small piece of plastic.

and the keypad is a load of moving parts, which would be more likely to break when compared with a full touch screen phone.
The keyboard keys is in between the phone so they can't get damaged, besides they never fall off, i never heard of this or any other phone developed by HTC, where the keys fell off, atleast not with normal use (if you let a dog chew on it then yeah they will fall off)
The keys on the front are good aswell, especially since most of it is 1 big piece of plastic.

To Gohan phone threads are like catnip. I don't think there is a phone thread on RZ which he hasn't posted. I think he has a 6th sense, as soon as someone types the world phone he is alerted
Heh, i just like to inform people. I honestly don't give a crap when people buy regular phones, but if you are gonna buy a smartphone, especially one with a keyboard, then i do know which phones are best, right now it truely is the Xperia and the HTC Touch Pro, don't forget, HTC is focused on these phones, it's their specialty and it shows, i mean when i was in the chamber of parlement, half the members there had a HTC.
The picture below was made with this phone without any problems, with that i mean that of the 8 i made (what can i say, it was pretty rare that they were all together like that), none of them failed. If you wish i can upload them all.
