LAN&WAN Server with NonPassthrough Router

Yes... it is possible with any router, be it Passthrough or non passthrough!

I have Lan & Wan Working... and in lan.. is really really fast!

I presume that you are stucked in a point where... or you have lan... or you have Wan!
This guide... will help you from here!
-> Uninstall Loopback (Wtf is that :P)
-> If you tested Wan sucessfully, it means that you had already defined the PORTS in you router... so i am not going to remind that again
REMEMBER... USE ONLY THIS GUIDE WHEN YOU TESTED SUCESSFULLY LAN & WAN SEPARATEDELY
-> now... even if you a have a fixed ip, go to No-ip..or dyndns and register a name > ex: mu.no-ip.com
-> In the server put all your *list.dat files with that ip (ex: mu.no-ip.com) except in data/commonserver.dat where you will put 127.0.0.1 (didn't know why.. but only worked that way!)
-> In server open C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\Hosts and add below 127.0.0.1 localhost ->[B]192.168.0.x (your lan Ip) mu.no-ip.com
-> goto your lan clients and also add that line -> ->[B]192.168.0.x (your lan Ip) mu.no-ip.com

you're done...use mu.no-ip.com in the links, and in the lan clients and wan clients

- I made 1 MU server on Windows XP (10.0.0.1), all clients run Windows 98se (10.0.0.2 - 10.0.0.10): I can register via web page, but game client cant connect to server.

- With that MU server on Windows XP (10.0.0.1), all clients run Windows XP : All well, no lag.

So what happent with Windows 98se ??? or something wrong when I config it ???

Tell me what i was wrong because my server still not work.

I have registered Domain tjmu.servegame.com direct to my global IP (by no-ip.com website).
Ip of muserver computer (on lan): 192.168.0.27

And i config:

*C:\muserver\CS\Connectserverlist.dat
*C:\muserver\CS\data\Connectserverlist.dat
*C:\muserver\CS\data\ServerList.dat
*C:\muserver\data\IpList.dat
with domain : tjmu.servegame.com
*C:\muserver\CS\data\Serverinfo.dat to default with Ip 127.0.0.1

*C:\muserver\data\lang\kor\commonloc.cfg
with local ip 192.168.0.27

Change all Ip adresses in the file : C:\muserver\data\commonserver.cfg to my local IP :192.168.0.27

Added 192.168.0.27 tjmu.servegame.com below 127.0.0.1 localhost at file C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\Hosts of server and client computer (My os is WinXP SP2 pro )

Edited link4 and link8 with tjmu.servegame.com
Finally ,i use tjmu.servegame.com for muclient to play and i get message "You are connected to server" ( :smilie3: ) but login box not appear ( :pissed: )

Try this:
-> C:\Muserver\data\commonserver.dat (use ip 127.0.0.1)
-> use a smaller name like -> tjmu.no-ip.org
-> C:\muserver\data\lang\kor\commonloc.cfg with tjmu.no-ip.org

And it will do it... do not use your lan IP... use only 127.0.0.1 in Muserver\data\commonserver.dat

Don't forget to edit HOST in your server...

couse the program have diff to resolve long name.

e.g

best.sytes.net <<<< perfect (12 char or less recommand)

chaveco, i used to try ur way , but i forget to put a hosts.dat in server , so my server cant understand. I read all ur post, and i really understand why it work. U r so intelligent chaveco. The reason why u cant put ur Lan ip in this serverlist.dat is with the hosts file in ur server, u redirect ur Lan Ip to this wan ip, and ur non-passthrough router doesnt support it ;). The 127.0.0.1 is the ip of any computer, u dont need to use ur Lan ip to connect ur server at server comp...
P/s : Need to change ip in serverlist.dat only! Another is useless ( they even can be deleted ;) ). And btw, if my guide is not deleted ^_6 i will update with ur guide ( credit to u , of course ^_6 )

Maybe it's a good idea to realease a full guide, because there are not many rage users reading this post.

Having a Mu server with a router is really important... it would be the most saffest way.

ive a little lan with 15 computers and 1 server linked through a 3com 810 router...
I read everything about "passtrough router ports" - Thats what i did!

(test with port 80) I did a test website (port 80) in my server and i can see it trough lan-clients, but using the local ip. If i try with the external ip i see the routers page, and if i tell my external ip to a friend, he cant see anything.

- lAN. My server is OK!!! But WAN...
thats my doubt!

PS: My external ip isnt fixed!

Please use only this guide to have LAN&WAN working... remenber, with this guide, you will have lan working, with pings of lan, which i think that is better than having a passthrough router.

Now, everyone don't have an excuse to not use a router
With my guide, we fool the gameserver and de network itself, and the gameserver thinks that a lan client, is a wan client with a connection of 100Mbits.. (nice ISP :rasta: )

I would like that Ragezone deleted all guides, and posted one big and general like pokky did.

I have muserver in my lan, the modem is configured as a router, when i set the server to run for wan it runs with no problems i already set the ports on modem setup and people from wan can connect with no problems, and when i set the server to run in lan its the same, so i know that server can run in both lan and wan at the same time, i made all the settings you said but in lan clients when i try to play the name of the server appear but when i click on the button the window stops and nothing happens, but i can login and play in the server from the same machine wich server is running so i think that have some problems in the ip configs or something like that but this is not my question,
I saw in the forum people talking about modems passthrough and modems non-passthrough, i dont know what is this, so how can i know if my modem is passthrough or non-passthrough? and wich is good and wich is bad? with wich is impossible to have the server running in lan and wan?
i use modem adsl SpeedStream 5200 SERIES model e240, im looking in the site of the modem but i cant find something that helps me.
Please help me or just tell me what you think about, thanks!

Forget passthrough and non passthrough... my way is the only where u can have lan pings for your lan clients... and wan pings to wan clients... at the same time

Ok, I'm guessing your using Sympatico there lunatico.
You need to unlock your Modem.
goto google and Type " unlock speedstream 5200 "
OR

Follow that link, If your using a router behind the modem I suggest you change the default Ip's for the first 2 links on that page to your Router IP. It will probably be 192.168.2.10

This way you can use the admin options from behind the router.
I suggest you use the DMZ option and set it to the router IP which will yet again be 192.168.2.10, Or you can use the port fowarding function in it to foward the ports to the Router.
Just follow those thinks and you'll be able to get it working, "Hopefully" eventually.

If you mannage to turn the BRIDGE Function on it will make it like the OLD modems sympatico use to provide. That means the router will do all the work instead of the modem. That means you need to fill in all the info for pppoe login and stuff into the router.
If you get stuck from there hold the reset buttonon the modem for 45 seconds and it will reset it back to normal. (Little hole on the bottom of the modem, use a pin or small screwdriver.

Dont's open all ports... open the ones in the guide... (beiing DMZ is not very good!)

In lan it works perfctel.

But in the screen, it's said i'am connected on my serveur but when i clik on it, nothing hapen, but my screen is not blocked, i can move the mouse but no hapen anymore.

192.168.0.6

192.168.0.12
and 192.168.0.15 is the pc i use the Cyber Cafe software
the Modem is connected to the Switch and use the ip 192.168.0.254
mumn.no-ip.com is the adress i registered in No-Ip site
I have done the etc/host in server and in the clients, the MuServer use Windows 2000 professional and the lan clients use Windows 98 SE.
Maybe Windows 98 is making the problem? =(

well i visit the site you told me and i can already acess all the configuration settings on the setup modem page and i can acess the hidden pages of the links that the site shows, the first link http://192.168.2.1/pfwizardj.cgi?code=EDIT&id.. that shows the Name and password for the modem Profile i have the right name and pass that the page ask me, but in the modem page when i click the option User the page ask me another username and password that i dont know, so im completely lost =/

It really seems like you don't have a Muserver error... you have WAN problems... please if you can't try to connect via VNC and the doors are open looks like that you have a router problem... please... don't change any settings that you followed in my guide... I promise you that.. when you connect via VNC you will get your MU lan & Wan

If you followed my steps... the configs are right...

The probleme is that all player in the net can connect to my serveur, but me, with another pc conecter in lan, with lan ip 192.168.0.4 with the same wan ip, i can't connect to my serveur.

i can just play ON the pc where the serveur is install.

In another pc,

with, 192.168.0.3-----> serveur page, next i clik on serveur, it's block and i am disconnecet from the serveur.
withn myno-ip.com---> i 'am disconeceted from the serveur.

I need help chaveco... i followed your guide perfectly but still it doesnt work...

my MuWan was running good with loopback device


first i deactivated loopback device

Then i added this to my host file: 192.168.3.3 showdown.dyndns.org

192.168.3.3 is my lan ip
showdown.dyndns.org <-- already correct forwarded in the router under Dns...

Q: isnt it a problem to use 1 name for wan and lan ip adresses? <-- i think this is the trick of your guide ;)


Then i changed lnk.4 and lnk.8 to showdown.dyndns.org

cs/connectserverlist.dat --> showdown.dyndns.org
cs/data/connectserverlist.dat --> showdown.dyndns.org
cs/data/serverlist.dat --> showdown.dyndns.org
data/iplist.dat --> showdown.dyndns.org
data/commonserver.cfg --> 127.0.0.1 <-- this make no sence... showdown.dyndns.org (standing for 192.168.3.3 should also work)

Name: doesnt matter :)

if i do so, i get the old problem if i dont use loopback device...

server is shown, but when i click (it says you are connected to the server) the login window doesnt display...

data/commonserver as 127.0.0.1 MAKES SENSE! why? because the BC and the DS run locally in the server... and 127.0.0.1 is = 192.168.3.3 witch is equal to yourname.dyndns.org, if you have host configured in server...

Deactivate Loopback.. (wtf is that :P) and change you wan name to something smaller like
ex123.no-ip.com.


That should do it..

I gone in C/:windiws/system32 blablabla and add this:

i opened server.

I opened my launcher, add ip, port, and name, i connected, I login and it works, but when i choose my character, no monsters are showing and 5 secondes after that, the gameserver crashes.

I don't know what to do now...

hi everyboby, i want to set up my server from Lan to Wan, in Lan it play very well. and now i want to change it to Wan to everybody can play it. my lan ip is 192.168.0.2, Wan ip is 210.245.32.144, and everyone can show me how to config my web, because i dont know how to config a web so that everybody can register a character( i have a website using ASP and it is OK but only in Lan). i using router ZyXEL 600!! thx all :3dflagsdo

Somebody help me? My MU Server is running version 99z. It's only show 1 Server in server list, so there are many people dupe excellent item :eh: . And now, I want to config it from 1 server to 2 server to show in server list . Everytime user connect to server, there are 2 server for them choice. Server 1 have Vault Keeper but can not trade . And Server 2 allow trade but there are not Vault Keeper . I want to make it to avoid dupe . My server use version 99Z . Pleaseee helpppp meee... thanks so much.....

why do you need another subserver?
I think that you have to prevent dupes... not making another subserver.

Hi Chaveco, My Server bugs from 97d --> 99z . User dupe excellent item by trade command. I think, this is error of this Mu Server . But, there is a solution to fix it. Config 2 Server from 1 PC. Server 1 have Vault Keeper but user can not trade in this server. And Server 2 allow trade but there isn't any Vault Keeper. I think, you can help me to do this. PLease...Chavaco.....THANKS SO MUCH ....

And just open 3 port : 80 ( if u use your MU Server is Web Server) , 44405 and 55901 ( all is TCP, no need UDP)

lan -> RUN > ipconfig
local -> RUN > ipconfig!

is it possible to setup a server and play on it if i don't have router or modem?
it ask me for a web connection when i start link 1 or 2

CHAVECO ! I done all ! Now my server is running , i can connect to server but other ppl is disconect :( Why is that ? And when i tryed to connect with port 44405 there was dc in the left corner ! After that i tryed to connect with port 55091 and another disconect but on top of mu ! Then i tryed to connect another time with port 44405 server was running ! What is the prob?
