Does not change the IP in the files you have to change your IP by Centos..
open - WinScp /etc/cabal/GlobalDBAgent.ini and change IP 121.0.0.1 centos changes
Seems pretty clear, it can't connect with the DB. Either the windows ip is /etc/odbc.ini is wrong, a firewall is enabled in windows or you use mssql2005 express and installed it wrong as a default 2005 express install won't work. See the guides in my sig if you use 2005.

Chumpywumpy - i found out that my ip address in odbc.ini in winscp is nt change. do i have to change the TDS_Version = 8.0 to TDS_Version = 9.0 n add anything to freetds.conf?

ohya.. im using ms sql 2005 express. bt i install it like hw the mssql2005.pdf teaches. the onli thing i dont know is wat i should put at the servername. cant figure that out. where to get the servername. so i put it as localhost

In the linked server settings put the windows ip address not localhost (that bit of the guide won't work for everybody and might not have been the best example to use in the guide).

run again in VMWare or putty command:

and change IPs you like.
