over and over and over :(
I thought i fixed that when I replaced server rates file. Please help.
01/13/2005 08:18:13.546, [NPC.cpp][186] deleted npc release failed
I'm getting that as well. What is it and how can it be fixed? o_O
Partition magic doesnt work with windows 2003...............
hmm what could I use now. Something thats relatively easy to use so I dont fuck anything up.
Shawn told me he already had a 16gb page file before this error happened for him and he has 2gb of ram just like I do.
i run it on my P4 2.4 with 1024RAM for my LAN and i have had no issues really, guess you need some help learning to use mssql databases.
experience in setting up a server would be an asset as well.
The issue is caused by having lots of users on. If you dont have lots of users on you would never know this problem :)
if you knew what caused it, then you'd be able to fix it - your here, so obviously u don't.Quote:

from what i can tell - it has nothing to do with your ammount of users.
its being caused by npcs that are failing to be removed from the db during respawn - when a mob dies the respawn timer for it begins and instead of removing the decayed mobs correctly it is leaving the entries in your database which in turn is causing it to crash because it doesn't like the out of place entries - the respawn timer ends, it spawns the new mob, but can't operate properly because of the matching entry that hasn't been removed - probably does this 8 or 9 times, produces an error and then crashes the server.
mssql is picky about things like this, anyone experienced in it would know that - thats what i meant in the above paragraph lol - not a flame :P.
botgod we need your help.
This happens at random times so I doubt its database related. I dont get any database errors in any logs or anything.
Its probably directly user related.
Untill I passed the 100 user mark I never got this error but as my server grows it seems to happen sooner than the time before.
I always recommend settimg mssql on separate box, coz sql transaction timeouts is always bad
This should help increase stability a lot.
2 boxes is a must have if you plan to have more than 100 users
and will buying a second box fix my npd delete release failed error?
What kinda machine recommended for my second machine?
I got a dual xeon 3.0ghz 2gb ram right now. What for the other one?
server crashed again.

:chair:
whats their IObuffer size?
Maybe I should upgrade to high speed drives.
that problem is actually related to cached error. i used to have that problem before. everytime 'sql 24000 fetch error' showed up, l2server starts spitting out 'npc release failed'. did you setup ingame bbs by any chance? try disabling that cos i found out that theres an error in one of the stored procedure called 'lin_SearchArticles' that makes cached spits 'sql fetch error'.
Hm, i have a decent amount of users on. Running MSSQL at the same box. and i don't have errors like that.
Besides; you can easily run 700+ people on one box. if you know HOW to get it all stable. its not a problem. Even with 10mbit you can host over 700 people.
(I mean a 10mbit port on a backbone (like 10mbit on ThePlanet or Sagonets network), not crappy home connections).

you think NCsoft built they're software so it can only handle 100 users and then has issues?
the issue is either an ini configuration issue or a db configuration issue - but ignore me :)
nVidiaFreak: i haven't had those errors either and i just ran the server with 102 people from my work on, so i'd say he just needs to learn a little about MSSQL and how to configure the server - plus his files are modified by Capn, so they're not guaranteed to work the same as everyone elses - probably another reason why he has errors......
we all know how everyone here feels about CapnMarv....
I figured out what the problem is I think. My iobuffer was too low. Servers now been up almost a whole day
(23 hours). No lag, no npc errors. IObuffer was probably way too small to support 200 users and all the npcs and their respawning.

I got the npc release failed error again
1 day 7 hours uptime and it happened.
anybody know?
i put a whole new lin2comm database. Lets hope no more npc errors after a day or 1 day 7 hours of uptime
Don't post 3 times ^_~ :P
im sorry about that but i was frantic lol
I just did a whole new lin2comm database that shoulda cleared out the community board enough. Now I shouldnt get the sql fetch error nor the npc released failed spammed in l2server window and eventually crash.
hm... I wondering, is that helps?Quote:
