Running 2 Separate GameServer Using 1 Database

This is very useful for 2 sets of gameserver sharing 1database but having different configuration like xp.

Ex.
1. Gameserver has all the items in shop and with high experience (VIP)
2. Has shitty Experience and with no good items on shop (Public)

You'll need

1. Two PC
2. Two Sets of muserver

On the first PC setup everything as you would do setting up a normal server. then on the second gameserver setup everything normally as well except ODBC of muonline/ranking those you will have to set to the ip address of your 1st server.

after that run both servers. you will have two gameserver with different configs but will share the same database. it wont show as a subserver on your server list.

Two questions.

So they are not connected to the same Connect server or join server. Due to they can only see one server when they click on the connection screen they can only see on server,.

but i see a bug in this,. if they are using two different Join servers they can easily do a dual connection of both server, with this creating easily duped items?

i dont know if im right,. hence jhiggs didnt really explain the entire setup, but if wat i think is true it should be very buggy,

For saving second PC resources you need only data dir ant gameserver dir. Didnt you know that ?

it does.. but i always had this crazy bug.. that my second - 3rd - 4th game server no matter how big they are, they always eat more cpu than the first one

If you run more than 1 gameserver on the same pc then YES, but if you have 2 PC why you need run all 8 links on second PC if you can just use only gameserver.

having subservers or another server using the traditional methor will inherit the same settings as the one having the commonserver.cfg. this has TWO or MORE individual settings since they all connect to 1 MSSQL which stores all data. yes it will have TWO or MORE separate gameservers.
my intention was to make a VIP server and a public server using the a unified server. VIP has its perks high XP etc etc. on subserver i havent thought how could that be done.

this may also fix the limitation of making more than 3servers since once again using ODBC to just point the game server where to transact the database.

i only tested it using 2 PC hence the problem of having 3 or more server eating up tons of resources i havent fully tested yet.

but this is simple enough to understand that you just told GS to transact to another MSSQL.

another good example of its practicality is LAN users and Public users. Lets say i operate and LAN shop and people pay to use the server. whilst the public (internet users) dont pay so they get to connect to the WAN side which has little XP, few shop contents.

i keep on getting user login fail for user "sa" and i know i have right login and pass...i dunno wut could be wrong... i think this guide cud be explained better :P

use windows authentication mode instead of mixed mode. which requires SA login.

ok i did wut u did... i see my main server and my subserver however when i click on it it dcs me ... but the second one works fine.. myips r correct and odbc too... all ports r opened ... wut is wrong :S ??

This way can occur one problem if you make one mistake is that 2 pc doesn't in the same hub, this causes lag and loss of database( users loose their levels, mean infomation not updated in time).

hmm gorgon666 using ODBC for many server is not supposed to have subservers. but since i know something about subserver try checking the firewall see if port 55902 is open.

someone help me on this, i had used the search already, i search for half a day now. Here is my problem.

I run the link my CS.exe does not detect it. I think its this OnePiece which is the problem, how do I make it disappear??

Ok i got it working all ok, need one more very important answer what to do wheen subserver or your main server are disconnected from internet for about 20second?, Theen Subserver is vanishing from list in (joinserver) and no more subserver, only after reloading subserver he is joining again how to fix and prevent that?

Just in case u want to know! its illegal to charge people when hosting a mu server! Its not yours ^^

And yes I know, its SHOULD be illegal to have a server at all! But since this other guy mailed webzen and got replyed that he should download pirate server instead, so I guess its ok then! =) :thumbup:

But i have a question. I have two ADSL connections some one know how to make that one server use 1 connection and the subserver the other connection.
These using olny 1 DATABASE and 1 PC. If anyone knows pls contact me.
