Hey, I need to write a short story that has to be intervened within historical events (E.G World war I or II, D-Day, Pearl Harbour, Armenian genocide, Holocaust)
So I was wondering, any one have any good ideas out there? I need some inspiration and ideas, because I know that making the idea is the most important step in creating a short story.
(BTW short story is only about 1~3 pages? Not very long)
Is this for homework?

Lul if I google and find someone else's idea for a story, I could end up being blamed for plagiarism. o_o
Well I just thought of an idea that revolves around D-DAY:
Theres this new soldier, and he is on a boat to Normandy, where D-DAY is gonna occur. Then he's all pumped up and that stuff, then a description of the battle scene is given. Afterwards he decides to attempt to raid the headquarters of the Nazis stationed there, but he found himself in a helpless situation. He surrendered, then he was taken as a POW. But instead of sending him to a regualr POW camp, they sent him to a death camp where all the Jews were. And he was ONE of those unlucky people who were chosen to be a guinea pig for experiments. Many horrible things are done to him, then the final horrid experiment about to occur, then the story ends.
Is that... uh good enough? :P:
you could do the life of a solider during the first world war, sorta like a diary entry for different days ;D
Regarding that thing you just posted, it's too long. You wont be able to press it into less than 10 pages without it being crap. Also, I don't think you should make a traditional war story. Be original.
Write a story about a dog running away from its home in France due to abuse and ending up as a spectator to the D-Day. He then saves a wounded german soldier. When the german soldier realizes the dog saved him he adopts the dog. Remember to make the dog the main character.
At my last English essay I got a similar task. I wrote a story about nazi moon bears from outer space during the Great Depression. Got an A. It all depends on your teacher though.
