openPortfolio
openPortfolio
What is it?
openPortfolio is a lightweight MYSQL & PHP powered, template driven webpage. A user can write posts to their main page, talk about themselves in the about page, and showcase their projects & work through the portfolio tab.
There is a admin panel which allows users to set all or most of the settings of the system through PHP & MySQL.
How complete is it?
Design - - Though as stated, it is template driven and not hard to design & add additional templates other than the default provided. (I'll probably create more)
Install - The install is pretty much complete, I have all the MySQL Databases designed the way I need them, so unless I add a new function, I pretty much have those sorted out
News - You can add news, currently, it will display the two newest news articles. I'm still working on allowing the user to edit already created news via the admin panel and working on "See Older News"
About - You can fully add/edit the about me page from the admin panel.
Portfolio - You can add new projects through the admin panel, once again, I am still working on "See Older Projects" and editing already created ones.
Contact - Nothing much, just a mailto: link..
Oh! Oh!, Could I please see a demo?
I guess.. http://174.117.151.74/openPortfolio/
Oh My God! I want it.
Cool, its open source and free to modify.
Download Link Here
Awww... Is it hard to install?
No. Very easy actually, you take the .rar file, extract it to your webserver directory and go to the link to install.
In my case, it would be http://174.117.151.74/openPortfolio/install/ (I removed it as this is the demo)
It depends on where you installed it to. Fill out all the Database information(dont forget to create a database! Name it anything:D: ) and type in a user name and password for the admin account!
Now, for security reasons, delete your install folder!!
Go to the main directory and start adding information!
Enjoy!
What if I have problems / errors?
Post the questions here, I'll be glad to help.
Please, if you have any suggestions, ideas, tips, feel free to post them, I'm always looking to improve how I do things and learn new stuff.
