I had a deep moment today.
I was at the store waiting for my mumsie to turn up (she got lost in the store), and i was looking at all the products on the shelfs and all the meats and a thought popped into my head. 'How the hell are people gonna survive when stores start closing due to...stuff like wars and all that crap?'. I mean..there were people with OVERLOADED carts full of food.
Surely people can't rely on this easy way of life for ALWAYS? Somehow, someday, it will all fall to peices, and since most of the people who live in America are so taken with the easy life that they will have NO idea what to do, or where to begin.
Scary thought that is.

Re: I had a deep moment today.
Civilizations rise & fall, simply due to the inevitable path of history. If it happens, it happens. All part of a cycle.

We steal the fruit-by-the-foot.

My question would be how would you react to that.

Re: I had a deep moment today.
Instead of asking yourself if this way of life is sustainable (it isn't), you should be asking yourself how it's sustained in the first place.

I disagree.

Re: I had a deep moment today.
why? surely the first step toward fixing the problem is understanding what the problem is.

I don't know. I'm merely disagreeing with you because I can. Not for any logical or rational reason.

The mark of your ignorance is the depth of your tragedy. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.

Not really.
Personally I think the only way we can continue living as we do is by creating as much renewable energy as possible as soon as possible. The problem is more and more of the rest of the world is trying to catch up to the western worlds level of technology, using an increasing amount of energy. If we haven't created an alternative to fossil fuels by the time it runs out, which is decreasing at a constantly increasing rate, then the rest of the world is fked as well as us. We can't exactly tell the rest of the world to stop using resources because we need them to keep our standard of life can we?
Really we know what the problem is, but trying to solve that is impossible for either economical, technological, or moral reasons.

I never said we didn't know what the problem is, I just said that knowing what it is is the first step. Besides, The Problem™ runs far deeper than what you just described.

You mean "is", not "was". Try not to get your tenses mixed up there's a good boy.
