NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
http://www.abload.de/img/npcnamechateditorv2.0t8z7.png
Version 2 is finally here, a day were many people have been waiting for! Completely re-written in C++.
This is the updated NPC Name / Chat changer, since I already released version 1 a few years ago. ^^
You can also set the prefix of J_CHAT (J) to make it E_CHAT (E) or something else, default J (J_CHAT).
Refresh List: refresh the npc list, however you should only use this if you added a npc while the application was running
Name: name of the NPC visible ingame
Chat 1~10: Chatmessages of NPC visible ingame
Params: Until now, I only think SoD uses those (e.g. "Bellatra is closed now.", "You're late! Bellatra has begun."); So leave the fields blank!
However, if you disable Params (checkbox), the values will still be saved. To remove Params, just enable Params and clear the fields.

Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
Looks like a nice update :):
I know when I had a server, your previous version definitely helped speed things up when I wanted to change NPC messages.

Yeah, but back then I only knew a little of VB, my friend HiGHCi helped me so hard back then XD.
Now I learned some other languages and I am programming daily, to learn more. I am into socket programming atm. and game cheats, but I actually wanna see all the sides of programming. Too bad I didn't know as much back then as I do right now.
Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
Cool. Cheers for the update Filterheadz. :D:
Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
Okay, another DP. I've finally gotten around to using this very very cool little tool... I'd like to request a code-page changer to accompany the fore-letter. It would be nice to see the text in it's native code-page, and would make translation much much easier.
Just out of interest, that's a very cool and simple UI theme you use in your screenies... where did you get it?
Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
Sorry for the late reply; I kinda quit all my projects during the summer haha.
Hmm; I'll look around if I still got the source and thanks for using it. Maybe I should release all my pristontale projects I made? I was working on a item editor as well if I remember well :D
To bobsobol:
I think I used SlanXP v3 ( in 2nd screen ) and muin VS ( 1st screen ) or something.
They are both from lassekongo83
His page on deviantart has various themes. Check it out ;)

Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
Cool find... I've used his "Neon" theme, but didn't find his DA account. :) (now added to my watch list)
I like your tools; yes a Filterheadz tools thread with all of them would be great... I also like to see the source, but that's your call. XD I am better able to suggest ideas if I know how the program is implemented... fe. I may be able to suggest libraries or routines that could help code-page conversion, but it would depend on what environment you are developing in, and what framework you are building against. (bare Win*** .net, ATL, MFC, WX, VCL, QT, GTK etc. Though I'm guessing not WX, QT or GTK. XD)
Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
I'm developing in VLC, anyway. I might do this during the Easter holidays. Since I got so much tasks right now... Since I kinda gone wrong last month XD
peace.
Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
If VLC = VCL (Visual Component Library rather than Video Lan Client) then JCL has some good Unicode UI elements (textboxs, memos and such), as while WideChar (WCharT) is available in the standard VCL, not all UI elements support Wide-strings being passed to their UI elements. (value / caption)
I love VCL... but often make that same typo my self. XD
I've tried porting my VCL knowledge to the LCL (Lazarus) but it is only available for free Pascal, and most of my VLC projects are C++ Builder.
Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
Yeah, it was a typo after all. I love coding in C++ Builder. I started coding in MFC and I really dislike that one for some reason.
Woa, I joined this community almost 4 years ago... great.
Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
1 year and 1 month before me... but I think you where active right away. Took me a long time before I felt I had anything much to contribute. XD
Well, BCB 2009 is supposed to be Wide-Character typed by default, (FYI. Microsoft WideChar is UTF-16, though early versions where released before UTF-16 standard was complete, and so may be incomplete) but I don't know if that extends to Edits and Memos because I'm not that up-to-date. (BCB 6 is my current version)
Most of the best advice I've seen is to use the MultibyteToWideChar() OS API to get to *wchart from ANSI, which you need to do, because the PT text files are ANSI. "__in UINT CodePage," should be decimal 949 (see Code Page Identifiers, "ANSI/OEM Korean (Unified Hangul Code)", or more correctly EUC-KR Korean ANSI) but of course many of our friends here are working with name files in Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese or Portuguese ANSI code pages, and it would be nice to try to support the UAE and Israeli developers if Bi-Di reading order doesn't make it impossible. Not to mention Gregoo and the Frogg guys develop in French, though their server is English, and Sumommo speaks German natively. :D:
I tried a little Hebrew NPC chat in my client and it looked okay to me, because we have some Israeli devs here and one said the translation is too hard; but I'm far from a native speaker.
Arabic is a beautiful written language to look at, but the kerning, circumflex and such must be just right for it to be readable, and I wouldn't know if they are or not. XD It's confusing enough in English when PT decides to start a new line part way through a word, I imagine it would be catastrophic in Arabic. :(:
:OT, has anyone else noticed that traditional fantasy wizards write spells in some bastardised Arabic script, and recite them in a bastardised form of Latin? Two languages with very opposing evolutions. Most odd. But these two do seem to be some of the most aesthetically pleasing, respectively on the eye and the ear. From a western point of view, you would think it should be Wicker Runes when written and something between German and Norwegian when spoken. (Scot's Gaelic maybe, there are already some fantastic Gàidhlig curses. XD)
Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
Before I look at my projects I will first reinstall my computer and put it in RAID1...
So... I think I used to have many incomplete projects, so that's why they weren't released I guess ^^.
See you around in the next few weeks.
*edit*
I'm still having a lot of things to do in my final year highschool so yeah, I'll see you around after I graduated.... because during the summer I must start coding again anyway.
peace.
Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
its not working here... could you fix it to me?
Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
What isn't working? It's usually easy enough to do with Notepad. (or something like it that supports Korean)
The program is just a little easier for finding the file than Explorer. I guess it presumes that the names\[NPCName].zhoon is linked in the .npc file though. (it isn't in all server repacks)
Re: NPC Name & Chat Editor v2.0
its because I didnt set the right Prefix...
I hate doing this with notepad, its too much files and with an exe the work become easier. But everything is working fine now. thank you.
