Please Update the A3server Guide!

Hi everyone,

I was following the A3server Guide by cvrDheeraj but Unfortunately, I run Vista and am running SQL SERVER 2008. Not just that, I feel that not everything in the guide can be implemented in vista as directed in the Guide.

Please try to help me! I have tried my best to set up the SQL server and the files with as much congruity with the Guides as possible but I'm stuck!

Please help! This is the screenie. I saw this error in the guide too but no one has explained how to solve it. I have tried several things with no success. Please help.

I run Vista Ultimate 32-bit and SQL server 2008 Express editon (with advanced tools).

I suspect that multiple files in the server guide is not compatible with vista. Please check this.

P.S. Sorry to have created a new topic but no one answered my post in the Guide thread, so asking for help here. PLEASE, HELP!

Asking Raman if he ever comes online to help. Please!

go to sql and there in databases got a3item event and users and delete the a3serial and got to security and create a new a3serial and the tick the a3db_owner and put the pass word and then try the zoneserver then it should work

I'm totally out of luck guys!

I successfully ran all the processes in Raman's guide but Epi 5 client (TTA3) doesnt work on vista! :(:

I then followed the guide of CVR but it has mistakes and ran it by comparing Raman's and Im just stuck at the Login screen. I dont get any error or anything!
Just stuck at the login screen.

And to top that, I cant install XP on my PC cause my graphic card doesnt run well in XP......and all the guides are based on XP whereas I run Vista! :grr:

I have been experimenting like mad, someone please help me, i can provide screenie of everything. Or better, some1 try to run SQL SERVER 2008 and Vista and try to implement the GUIDES!

PLEASE, CAN ANYONE HELP! PLEASEEEEE!

when u get stuck at loading screen, have u ever tried running client again?

Everytime i run my server, the client always get stuck at loading screen for first time. All i do is click on cancel and run the client again and i successfully get logged in.
Try this nd let us know if this work or not.

Otherwise download the patch for vista users frm tta nd then try.

I tried it again and luckily, got an error message:

"Failed to connect to login server"

:(:

Please guide.

N.B. Vista patch doesnt work for TTA3, i tried my best to run it and play it, my friends play there, but I cant!

Yes, every file is working! Im using ARA3 Client!

which server files u r using?
If you are using server files uploaded by me then ARA3 client will not work because those server files are epi5 whereas ARA3 client is for epi 3 server.

You said that earlier so I am using the server files from CVR's guide but some of the INI and ODBC from CVR's guide don't run, so I configured them following your guide!

Your guide is really well structured, I wish CVR's was! For example, in CVR's guide, the 7770's tdb.ini has A3ASD but it doesnt run so I changed it to Login202 according to your guide and it works!

But all the files are from CVR's server files, not yours!

download the epi 5 server files frm my thread and copy the tdb.ini files frm there to your server.

the problem is...u need to download any part 5 client...[tta3,mania or any korea client]...and dont click on updater....just download a a3 launch and start the game directly

check all ur servers and make sure they are running properly.
Check the pics in cvrdheeraj's guide and make sure u get same messages.
e.g In zoneserver u get GATE OK' msg. If u dn't get this msg that mean ur zoneserver is not working nd u have to run it again.

Like this u get a msg in every server. Check dheeraj's guide pics to know it better.

If ur all servers are running properly then check the ini files of loginagent, loginserver nd accountserver nd compare them with ini's frm my server files.

If nothing work then copy all ini's frm my server nd paste them into ur server.

If nothing works then let me know. Will give u prot's server files.

My Guide works for Episode 3 (205) Version only. I haven't made any guide for newer version. So try not to mess up.

Windows 7 is based on Vista platform.

Ok, I'll make a clean installation of the server using CVR's files and let u know, and ill check the pics too. And Raman, can I use ur ODBC as well, or is it specifically configured for epi 5 server, dont mind my noobness, but ODBC also creates problems from CVR's guide! :(:

U misunderstand, I am trying to run Epi 3 server, not 5. Some of ur files like the tdb.ini is wrongly configured coz they dont run, like in 7770 its written A3ASD which I had to change to Login202.

Also, some of ur ODBC sources are wrong coz they dont run if i follow ur guide explicitly. I am not a techie expert but I can tell u each of the places where I get errors while following ur guide. Anyway, if u can help me in anyway then please do. I will post new screenie's after running ur files again.

Just so that there are no more doubts regarding my problem, I’m giving a detailed description of my server and how I set it up.

1. I set up SQL SERVER 2008 with the Default Instance:
Login: sa
Pass: ley


2. I started server.


3. I created the databases:
A3ItemEvent
ASD
Character
FriendDB
HSDB
Itemstorage


4. I restored the databases from the backup files provided by CVR and used the REPLACE command since they are not being restored normally.


5. I created the “a3serial” login with the pass “dkdlxpawprhdnpc”. I made the corresponding database “A3ItemEvent” and also made it “db_owner”.



6. Next I ran the .reg file from CVR but it made errors, so I made them according to Raman, i.e.

(Name) = (Database)

A3ItemEvent = A3ItemEvent
A3Friend = FriendDB
A3RcvResult = A3ItemEvent
A3SerialList = A3ItemEvent
ASD = ASD
EventA3 = ASD
FriendDB = FriendDB
HSDB = HSDB
LETTERDB = ASD
LocalServer = ASD
Login202 = ASD
NEWASD = ASD

7. I installed BDE from CVR’s files.

8. I also pasted the files from “Drive C” to my C:\ from CVR’s Files.

9. I used Raman’s “tdb.ini” and every other “.ini” file except in the mainserver.

10. I ran the 770, 8880, 9990 files and compared it to CVR’s pic. The RED TICKS are my files.


11. I have also hexed the a3client.exe following CVR’s guide but I am not sure of anything so here’s another screene.


12. I also made a GM char following CVR's instructions like this since SQL SERVER 2008 doesnt have a Query Analyzer.


Hope this clears all doubts. No wonder I have made mistakes, please lemme know where.

One big mistake.
Read the guide again. Before running the ODBC.reg file you have to create odbc entries. Read the guide u will know how to create odbc entries.
After that run Odbc.Reg file nd then install bde.

Errrr...U mean in the Control Panel\Administrative Tools\ODBC ??? I have done that.

I re-installed everything again....

And made the entries before executing the .reg file. Still, same error:

"Failed to connect to the Login server."

Can you upload some preconfigured server files, the important ones, the .ini files and the hexd client etc. Done everything but still problem.
