A way to protect your server files
I know this is not directly flyff realated but I beleive it could help some people
I though id give out a few ideas due to me seeing server files being ripped left and right
and I have my own personal mmo project in the works so I was working on some security measures I thought I might share
these may be a tad difficult for those of you with meager coding knoledge but I couldnt care less about those who wont work for somthing...
here are a few systems that can be implemented into servers protecting them fromthings such as being ripped
R.P.V. (remote program verification), self server ip check
security systems are 2 very powerful ways to protect things like server files
RPV is where file paths will be checked (and cont in various locations all over the computer (best to use paths unique to the host) where it wont say when it cant find one it just will close or freaze
a self ip check will check the ip of the server host (IP should be compiled into the server not in a seprate file) and will close if it does not match the ip or list of ip's that the server is allowed to run on
and obviusly not haveing 127.0.01 or local as acseptables

"here are a few systems that can be implemented into servers protecting them fromthings such as being ripped" that part reminds me of the Fame files that have been ripped by these fucking german kids, which now distribute them to like everyone. *Points at Mootie, TwiLight etc*
Now theres no reason to develop emulators anymore.
Re: A way to protect your server files
I know
Im going to school this year for networking security so I thought I might as well get some practise in
and systems like this would be quite benificial if added to server projects
oh and yeah it was seeing fame being attacked that I began to think about it
and systems like this should be able to prevent such things
Re: A way to protect your server files
Noobish ways to protect. There are better once that you just have to do one or two things and you protected.
Re: A way to protect your server files
TheUnreal what would you know?
call someing "noob" all you want still better then anything you could ever come up with...
and atm there is no system better... understand that much or are you lost already?
need proof? look at fame
and quite frankly ive seen server files of official games stolen countless times and servers made from them
and as for pserver
like their much better...?
let me take a guess... no
