Runescape Updates
A lot of runescape players always moan at Jagex's updates but the majority of them don't even realise why they make the updates. I made this thread to make everything clear for you all about why they made those updates:
The Trade Limit
Jagex created the trade limit to stop players being scammed, which is a good thing. It also puts a great balance into the economy. They also changed the trade limit due to real world item trading.
No more wilderness pking
There is no longer 'the wildy' because of real world item trading. 'nuff said tbh.
Also for the other updates.....just imagine if Jagex didnt update Runescape, you would all moan and cry for the updates. But Jagex are updating Runescape and you're moaning for them to 'downdate', open RSC and all this shit.
Conclusion
Jagex are updating Runescape to make it better, safer and more friendly to newbies of the game.

Re: Runescape Updates
I understand your point, but I have to say.. they truly weren't thinking when removing the wildy and adding a trade limit.
Theres no longer as much fun in the game as there was.
When I got scammed, I didn't like it at the time, but I enjoyed earning my money back.. its part of the fun.

Re: Runescape Updates
If you get scammed that has nothing to do with jagex, so i have no idea why they worry about that...
Sigh, jagex just dont understand a players point of view!

Re: Runescape Updates
They just tried too hard to change safety for the better, instead it was for the worse.

Re: Runescape Updates
They're updating the game to make it more modern. There are a group of people who want the 'old runescape' back and theres a larger group of people who want more updates. If you look around the net you'll see lots of threads on forums saying that runescape is too shit, too old and stuff. Jagex update for the best..
Just face it, if they never updated the graphics from even RSC then they would only have about 400 online at a time. Even if they didn't update to HD then they would only have 50-75% of what they have now (players).
Joe, it got really annoying though..

Re: Runescape Updates
Yes, they're all decent updates.
But we're only discussing the Trade Limit and the Wilderness removal.

Re: Runescape Updates
I would say it's one of their SMARTEST moves. Cause honestly, players used to just scam and or buy money and use the trade to get it around, but taking care of this problem, players must actually play to get the money = more adverts (if free player of course), and it takes longer to get the money, so members would have to pay more money to get membership extended etc.
But if you look at it, if they haven't removed any of this, we would still be in the old ages. Because of this update, Jagex had a massive increase in cash, and so they spent the money basically improving everything in RuneScape - Hd, RT4 and RT5, better graphics, all done by higher professionals - whom get more pay cause Jagex has the moneys
Conclusion: those people who complained about pking, either were people who bought money - or were dedicated players, but rather in a good way, i wouldn't think so, they have been an ass to jagex, and yet continue to play. All i have to say is thank you Jagex, giving us a game we enjoy - but more importantly, emulate :P

Re: Runescape Updates
AJ, you are completely right :)

Re: Runescape Updates
That is a valid point.
But generally, they've only ever improved the game internally.. no new features.
-
Re: Runescape Updates
Umm, yes there are new features..
-
Re: Runescape Updates
there are some, but nothing exciting.
-
Re: Runescape Updates
Some? Do you ever go on runescape? There are lots of new features tbh.

Re: Runescape Updates
RuneScape is the only MMORPG to date which announces an update every week (4 updates a month). Most of these updates are noticeable aswell.
