IP Chat Box Time out messege
When i input the pass for gm mode in my server the chat box constantly spams my ip and says time out received msg or something like that. Everything works perfect except that its hard to read what anyone is saying because their words get pushed up the chat box so quickly. Is there anyway to stop this?

Re: IP Chat Box Time out messege
Here, we have noticed that GM logons from Windows Vista or Windows 7 are far worse for that than Windows XP or 2000.
I suspect this is connected with the new multi-media task scheduling that was introduced to Vista. It is probably delaying TCP/IP communication (which in PT isn't even DirectPlay) in favour of smooth refresh rates.
I therefore suspect that if PT communication was conducted via DirectPlay, or the timeout delay was extended that would be a nicer solution. (from the point of internal working)
But since these timeouts don't affect gameplay or performance in any other way, simply disabling their display on GM chat windows is a really good quick solution.
Re: IP Chat Box Time out messege
thanks for the reply guys. Osirus that is exactly what i was looking for. However, that did not come up on my search. Perhaps i should have worded it better :P. Thanks a ton guys!
*EDIT*
I've followed the guide and edited the time out errors with success. how ever there is still the problem of text overlapping. I know gregory and bob did a guide on it but i'm having trouble following it. I'm trying to edit the BloodPt client and i'm getting lost after i find where the text size and charset etc. are. I'm having trouble following what to do. Any help?

Sorry have to bump this since i think people think its resolved. And i rather just add onto this thread instead of creating a new one
Re: IP Chat Box Time out messege
Hmm. I think a new one would be better, because the subject of the thread has now changed... but I'll leave that to the mods.
Okay... my idea / method was to get the font size as close to okay as possible using the font change method I listed. Gregoorys' is to remove the colour highlight on the name and print the entire string as one.
Gregoorys' method is easiest to implement I think, and produces very nice results in a single simple modification... To get mine fully, you would have to make several edits, or work from a client that is already aware of proportional text... i.e. ePT, PTB or maybe even PTVN, not KPT, jPT or the Chinese PT. Fiddling with fonts and variable number of white space charters alone will only get you close.
So I say, go with Gregoorys' guide, replace the split string with a single one. It brings better results in less time. To get my "idea" right from a KPT / JPT translated client would take lots of mixing in ePT code and patching and moving code and tweaking and fiddling. Leave all that for some time when you are bored and want to waste some time making something awesome to wow us with.
