Re: Client and connection.
Hello,
That PM makes no sense, but there are alot of people who don't speak english very well but this is and english forum so...
Back to topic, Unzubaru's files are server files and are fine to use if you are using a test server. Secondly, to know the difference between a client and a server. The server has many files in the folder which relate to uncommon things you would see in a client folder, thus you can tell the difference if you do not know. Secondly a client can be used for any server that is compatable i.e. 150 level cap in the client and server. Client's usually have a few files involving registry files and a game.exe.
Putting together an getting a server to work, well I don't have time to write one out here and now but use the search function on the forum to help you find what you need. Also check out the tutorial and releases section for extra help. Thirdly, From the PM I believe you are having trouble installing or whatnot? Im not entirley sure but.
You need two seperate folders, one will be the server and the other will be the client. Most don't have installations and are just a matter of extracting where you wish the data to be placed. Once you have those files, you need to make the adjustments to those files by following a reliable guide that will help you get up and running hopefully as soon as possible.
I hope this atleast helps someone and I apoligise for this long post and not making it better as I only clicked on 'quick reply' hoping for a short message.
Goodbye for Now.
Re: Client and connection.
Thank you Breaker, I wasn't sure if it was just me. That is actually the second PM I got, to correct the English in the first. XD
One point with your post:-

The information I provided in Why won't my client connect to my server - Part 1 relies on the fact that that is patently not entirely true.
MOST clients and servers used by Private PT servers have traditionally been based on the Korean server and client protocols, which are compatible with the Japanese Test server protocols. These are usually the first to acquire new features. English PT, Brazilian PT and PT Vietnam do not use the same protocol... and I've not been able to properly test the Chinese PT client as yet.
However, different servers and clients use different TCP Ports... both must match. Around here, the usual port is 10009, but 10007, 10006, 10003, 10011 are all also common elsewhere in the PT world.
Famously Superman666 (AKA Ryder) and PearlPT used port 6147... just because that (represented as a hex number) is his birthday, and to provide their server with a little more protection.
The one line I could make sense of and respond to from avdeoks2 first PM was mentioning that most guides relate to links that are well and truly broken now. This is a sad truth, but most of the guides say pretty much the same thing, and it doesn't really matter what server file set you use, the guides still apply. You may find files in different places or with slightly different names though.
Re: Client and connection.
I see your point of view on that point of mine there. But you can also find that if you use a matching client i.e. same level cap or item modifications etc, you don't come across as many problems. These problems could be difficult also if you don't know what you are doing. That is what I meant by that point.
Of course you should use a client and server together that is in the same language... I hope. But yes that is why people get problems using all sorts of crap put out on the internet.
Thanks for your input Bob.
