IIS issue

hey,
i try install the IIS for my clan system i followed after a big and reccomand guide wich worked for everyone i know how to install it without the disk.
when i arrive the part that i should go to control panel>>>move/remove softwares then i need press add/delete windows applications and i get an eror :S

i despaired so i burned windows xp services packet 3 on a runned it install it and same problem..
if u will look in the picture its somthing with the msmq...inf
so if anyone have any idea suggestions i would like to hear

That's why I asked you to just post the Hebrew text, so we could attempt our own translation. I can't try alternate translations on a picture, and I can't type Hebrew characters. :wink:

What it's saying is that the msmqocm.inf is corrupted on your installation of Windows. My guess would be a dodgy XP remastering / slipstreaming, like the XP Black Edition or similar. (Please don't confirm this.)

Err, in msmqocm.inf? Actually msmqocm.inf lists all the files and settings associated with MSMQ 3.0 and how to install them. That's what Windows inf files do.

All the .inf files Windows uses for component and driver installation are stored in "%SystemRoot%\inf" which is usually pretty common knowledge among SysOps who have to manage Windows networks or servers, because a key tip to getting drivers distributed is to drop all the driver setup .inf files there remotely. Another key tip to managing Windows bloat is that you can gain more control over the components Windows installs by performing a search and replace ", hide," for ", ," in "%SystemRoot%\inf\SysOc.inf". ^_^

I'm slightly surprised it seems to have passed you by, as this tip has been on Windows Annoyances sites since before XP was released. The same trick worked in 2K as well, which is when MS stopped making things like "LookOut Express" an "option".

No... tweaking sysoc is kinda a hack. But it was a popular one because of the whole legal battle over MS tying Windows into IE, WMP and LookOut Express so strongly. OEMs didn't like it, users who had gotten used to Netscape, Pegasus or Eudora or the like didn't like it and generally, it's not fair that they aren't "optional". They aren't "Essential system components" so you should be able to uninstall them.

No, the first listing is my copy of msmqocm.inf if yours is different, (or missing) that may be why Windows is complaining.

Messing with anything other than sysoc.inf is something one usually does during "slipstreaming", and then, usually with the aid of a tool program.

The process of "slipstreaming" is Microsofts term for applying service packs and patches to an OEM distribution of Windows. It is also often used by sys-admins who need to ship out a standardised OS install to many workstations within their organisation.

When you have a large LAN with many PCs attached to your servers, the entire network needs to be considered as a single system. If different workstations have different OS configurations and patch levels, it can cause stability issues within the network. If they are all the same, and get updates from a local server which is attached to Windows Update rather than each machine going out to the internet for updates stability is improved, management and maintainence is reduced and WAN bandwidth is reduced.

Third party "XP Black Edition" releases are an abuse of this "feature" of the Windows Install Disc, but fun none the less. :wink:

Then your best solution would be to re-install with a genuine Microsoft Windows XP installation CD.

Provided you are using a genuine Microsoft installation an MS engineer will happily fix any such issue via remote with the "Get Help" options.

I don't think they will touch your present issue, because it should / would never happen with their distributed media, unless you actually deleted the file. They (like me) would know instantly if you are using an OEM or slipstreamed install, and will refer you to the engineer who botched the slipstream in the first place. :wink:

Microsoft Help is not on the disc, it's in the Help and Support Centre.

BTW, we shouldn't slur Google, they don't host files for peoples, except in Google Docs, and they definitely don't host copies of Windows XP, which is a commercial product owned and licensed by Microsoft.

You may have found this disc on Google, but I'm sure you didn't actually download it from one of their servers.

It also occurs to me that this is not the place to discuss illegal OS downloads pros and cons. If (as I suspect) what you have is some Black edition... this forum has some good information on it and gamerman's (it's creator) other releases. If you are interested in the process of Slipstreaming and customising your own OS install disc, I usually refer to the good folks at MSFN.

Yes "%SystemRoot%\inf". That's EXACTLY where to find it. Type that in the explorer address bar or in cmd.exe or in Start -> Run and you WILL find the right folder / directory.

The fact of the matter is that you can install Windows on drives other than C:, which means that C: is not necessarily the correct location. OEM installs, especially slipstreams and such can install to a different system root folder. NT4 and Windows 2000 install to "x:\WinNT" to allow dual booting with 9X systems, and slipstreams often do the same to allow you to dual boot your GameOS, your ServerOS and your ProductivityOS from different system root folders.

On an official XP install disc, installed to C: (which is the norm under most single OS systems, but may switch to D: if Linux or real DOS or something is on C:, or simply because the user chose to install to D: or E: or F: or etc.) %SystemRoot% will expand to "C:\Windows" in DOS emulation or in the NT-object structure "Computer\Local Disk\Windows" unless you relabelled your primary partition.

All of which means that the only guaranteed correct location for this folder on any system is "%SystemRoot%\inf".

Just like the only guaranteed correct location for the current users desktop is "%UserProfile%\Desktop".

ok now i created inf file with YOUR msmqocm con tact and i got another error
open msmqocm.dll could not succses or the function msmqOcm was not found
go to ur system manager the spesific error code is 0x7e

ok we are advance i guess i just need the contact of the dll file ill create one copy paste and everything will be fine^^

edit:i downloaded the dll from google and i have the same problem maybe i download wrong dll so anyway i think better u post here the dll

No... what you need is a copy of XP that doesn't have the Message Queuing Service striped.

This situation is too messy by far. Get a PROPER copy of XP, and stop hacking an already hacked version. Seriously, no reflection on you, but this will only cause you more and more headaches. Sooner or later your OS is going to be constantly insisting you insert your Windows XP disc and reboot your machine coz it can't find the right files. BTDT save your self the hassle... please. :wink:

I don't know the stores in Israel, in the US Frys would be a good bet, here in the UK I'd say PC World, Office World etc.

Seriously, *buy* it, it's worth every penny.

I would not use an OS I didn't legally own, and still wont install an OS I don't have an official legal install media for, even if it's only because I downloaded and burned it from Microsoft, Sun, Ubuntu or Mandrake.

By the way, I should mention that I know Imri built his own PC, therefore making him an Original Equipment Manufacturer, and entitling him to use an OEM licence of Windows.

The police are not my concern. ReactOS is a community supported project, like RZ. Microsoft is a profit lead organisation. If you want to choose Microsoft, you should choose to pay them. If you don't agree with their business model, pricing or WHY you should not use their product.

For example; I do not, and never will own, or use Microsofts' Office suite. Because I do not believe it is worth the asking price, and do not agree with the way it is used by Microsoft to force others into using other Microsoft solutions which may not be the best answer. Over the years I have bought many other office suites, and I now use OpenOffice, and support their community. Because that is a modal I do approve of.

But the support, in terms of updates, service packs, free optional downloads of WGA software, on-line technical help and remote assistance that Microsoft provide with their OS is so superior to any "free" OS that I believe it is worth paying for. Their only competition, IMHO, in those respects, is Apple.

If you are a user who does not need those support facilities and understands an OS well enough to support and develop it yourself, then there are options on the market for your too. No dis-respect to you, but you don't strike me a such a person. Most people are not, and that is why Windows, and Mac OS are such popular OS choices for the majority of people. Because they don't want to have to fix the OS themselves, they want to pay for the support of a large organisation to make it "just work" for them, so they can get on and do something else.

If you don't think the price is right, and you still use the OS, your vote (in terms of OS coverage) is misplaced. The web can see you are using Microsofts OS, and that suggests you do agree with the price and business model. In fact you are / become a "liar" in that respect, because you promote a system you refuse to buy-in-to.

I can assure you that that file is present and correct on any legal Microsoft Windows installation from 2K SP0 up to XP SP3. And if you have any such problem, Microsoft will support you up to the point of fixing it, provided your license key is valid and legal. So you won't have to fill RZ with misdirected support requests. :wink:

my friend gaved me his windows xp disc i did repair windows and its said that dll missing in E:/i386 i dont rimember the dll name..i from my mam pc now i cant open my pc because its try to install the windows every time and faild :S what i can do now?>~! damn..
i agree to pay for windows xp disc but i hope its will be the last choice so any idea?thanks bobsbol
