Vps :/

Okey..
This might sound stupid.
But..
How do I set up my private server with an VPS?
I have never used an VPS ever before..

Yesterday I paid CheapVPS to get a VPS.
And now I have no idea of how this works.
Can anyone help me?
Or tell me what you need to know more to help me?

I suppose I have to do something at "Serial Console" But I can't figure out what :ehh:

Linucks, and you don't know how to set it up? *facepalm*

To better aid yourself(you need it) run "sudo aptitude"

Aptitude is a package installer included in most linux jernals. Now search for gnome or xfce, these are GUIs for linux... also, install the jdk while you're there...

All I see is an cmd likely thing :S
Sorry but I'm a big newb to this :p

Your VPS is linux, therefor is plain cmd (unless you get a GUI like suggested).

You should get a Windows VPS instead.

Hmm..
Okey so I looked up xfce and gnome stuff on google..
But all I found is

But when I type that it says

it says the same thing like with xorg..
And the same with xfce :S

I don't understand anything :S

When I bought a linux VPS I had cPanel on it.
So I downloaded Java and installed it via the WHMS then I uploaded my files via FTP.
To run the server I used a program called putty and typed a command once I was connected. I can't remember what it was but you need to give linux a command to keep the connection live and the run.bat open after you close your connection with the VPS.

This is too complicated for me :P
But do I have to setup a GUI or buy a cPanel or stuff if I order an Windows VPS instead?
Because I don't feel like throwing away 30$ :p

Windows VPS are good because they've already got a GUI.
Just use root access.

You should really have consulted somebody about this whole VPS nonsense before even contemplating on buying one.
Next time, think things through and don't be impatient.

Why not save up and get some cash and buy a dedicated server.

a VPS is basically a computer with like loads of little OS's running on it.

A dedicated server, is solely yours.

A VPS's performance can totally depend on what other people may be doing with their "small OS."
