MSM 10196 - Testing (ended) - wait for alpha release (main thread, and the only one)

the testing has ended. this not an alpha release, but i insist that ou wait for the alpha release (work in progress).

Metal Slug rendition, with multiplayer gameplay.

server: max-players: set on server

• Technical stuff:

• Server lists - servers that are online (just like steam), information gathered server database.
• Version checking
• Anti-cheat, and that sort of crap - involves checking whether packet sniffer programs are opened, check for cheat-engine and that sort of crap [hex editors, considerably].
• Server database webpage - just a simple form for you to add your server on the database
  
• Gameplay inhancements, to be:
• ingame emocs (?) - emocs shown on chat box, like these (but better than these): :tongue: :huh: :thumbdown:

• dialogue box with the chat history (dialogue box that appears when certain key is pressed)

When will the server be available?

I couldn't be sure when, as of now I don't know whether it is stable or otherwise. I'm aiming distribute it whilst stable, just to reduce complaints generally.

I'm quite aware of what's missing as of now, both of client and the server itself. But it works as supposed. So, my comment on that is, the development will continue and you'll have to wait. :P

p.s. play on full screen mode, i prefer that way. :P

yes, and it is open now. the problem is, the server has crashed, blocking the connection for everything else.

i couldn't connect through remote, so i'll have to wait for tech' to reboot the server.

i've got to fix that.

you can play through lan, or local. keep the port set at 1337, the client connects to 1337. i'll edit that later.

In the long run or now for that matter will the users be stored in a some kind of database for a ranking type system? or is it just like plug & play type.

it is plug and play right on, for now! i'm not confident with integrating databases with the server as of now, i've just experienced problems with it a minute ago and am sure it isn't stable yet :P. I've had the server with mysql connector integrated (separate project), some time ago, I would have to edit that later on, so i don't have any worries with integrating a database for rankings, etc.

you may connect: 188.40.183.251 (change your ip on the settings)

meanwhile, i'll try on your server sparker!

p.s. when settings ip on client, don't include the port. better yet, change the ip at client menu. type /settings

Well I've a few suggestions, but If your planning on staying retro I doubt any will happen. :/

That games sick! Me and some choco dude were sittin there killing each-other! Keep up the good work! What's with the 'Timed Out' screen? How do I get back into play after I see that (is there a way without close/reopen?) It would be hard to make an AI wouldn't it? That would be cool to have if nobody was on..

Ahh! I'm sorry about that Sp! the server has crashed multiple times as we played (I was online :P), and I had to restart it.

The server crash because of the following reason above, I'm fixing it now. :)
