"Nothing stored on your computer" = scary.

Apparently they believe making an OS "Browser-Style" would be much more feasible and ease the use for user(s). I have already installed it via v.box. The constant crashes will give you a headache and is nothing more than a fancy Linux and innovative "layout". Once again, another clever plot by Google. I suppose its time to "Wave" this Goodbye. Besides, Google Wave is just another "innovation", in terms of functions, its not as portrayed when you use it itself. I definetly does not top Windows 7 and lacks functions for the time being. Also, so-call 'referenced hardware' will ONLY be supported and is rather short-sighted.

i guess it will help elderly people who really don't have a clue and only know how to control the TV

either that or google made this for themselves and released it so it looks like they are actually doing something for the open source community

and without internet, this operating system is useless

If this comes avaiable i would only download it for VMWare/Virtual PC for testing, windows works fine for me, and lets be honest, most games, applications and so on are for windows.

i dont think microsoft will be sweating any time soon.

worried lil ? lets face it, nor Linux , google or other OS will beat Windows in sales&usage in the next 10 years. and the reason is so simple, yet mass of the users can't deal with Linux because its hard for them+windows was one of the first and so most of the games/apps/whatever was build for windows.
Most of the people prefer the easy way - windows. what is so good in windows ? microsoft predicted almost all actions user can take, they made everything easy to use, with few clicks, and included only most important things looking at the mass user... linux doesnt look at the mass users yet ? they didnt make things easy for the 'new' people buying pc or having less than ~1 years experience.

btw that video says the fastest computer would boot for 45 seconds,
mine is booting for 30 seconds and i'm even logged in, but i doubt its the fastest computer.

Yup, that's why windows will still be champion. It is inevitable there will be times you won't have internet access. Not to mention PCs are entirely designed around having an in built OS to function. If they really wanted this to work they should have designed a new type of PC, without hard drives and things that are currently needed. Thus they could cost much less and be attractive to some users.

I disagree, i think microsoft has nothing to worry about. Not even Leopard OS X can surpass windows, what makes you think chrome OS will? You know how people never rush for something very differnt without thorough reviewing, and by the looks of it, chrome OS looks very different.
