That can be done with any 525 source (if thats the revision your referring to). You've gotta program what you want it to do.

Im actually looking for a server running already, not files. I might do some coding later actually but thats not what im asking for at the moment. Also what is the difference between 525 and 508 - why does everyone seem to use 508?

Oh right, my apologies. I don't play many servers or monitor them so I'm afraid I can't point you in any specific direction.
525 is a newer revision but pose's many stability issues due to the fact there are more 508 developers than 525. 503 was a huge update from the old interface (477 I believe) but I guess everyone decided to park on 508 and begin development. Ever since it's been a thriving community of developers, but yeh. There are always the odd developer to continue through the revisions.
Apologies if I confused you with all the revision numbers. I hope I described them in enough detail to convince you which is which.

Whats the actual differences between 508 and 525 though? How hard is it to port existing 508 code (for eg. barrows or something) into 525? Also what i dont understand is how RS servers work, with other mmos you have to sniff the packets and make a program to actually emulate what real server files would do. It seems though that RS servers are done a bit differently?

As far as I know, 508 is more stable than 525, but I use 508 cuz I like it more than 525.
And since 508 and 525 aren't so different, I believe that in 508 and 525 the barrows are the same.
By the way, I think 503 was a big jump from 474. 508 was the one where people had full screen.
And I don't know any 503+ server "low rates and almost identical functionality to real Runescape." They all are full of s*it. :D:
But you could try and search from xtremetop100 or somewhere ...

Hmm ok, i think i wont bother playing then. Might code my own files, what are the actual differences between 508 and 525? Plus, is there anyway i could rip newer files from Runescape or anything? Where can i find guides for anything related to server development? I couldn't find much on here yesterday, and today all my internet bandwidth is gone and speed is throttled back heaps so i cant do much.

The differences between a 508 and a 525 are very slim. As far as I know, the only two things I'm aware of that's noticeable between the two (content wise) is dragon claws.
There is ways to get to newer version, by getting the runescape client off their website, but many people don't unless they have a team or something because switching to a new revision requires alot of work, such as deobfuscated the client, working out the login protocol and finding all the packets located in the client, whilst most of the code is semi-obfuscated!

Hmm ok. 525 is probably the better option then, dragon claws update is quite big. Are there any guides or anything which explain a bit about what you mentioned for getting a newer version?

Yeah i much prefer 508. Much more stable. Ah i havnt found any jagex like server as of yet. I don't think any one wants to add in everything the same as real runescape. Would take a long time. :O:

lawl why not...AJ is right in the fact that it's hard to do so, however he failed to realize one thing. Once you're caught up, it's easy to keep up. Only thing you have to do each revision is figure out what packets change, how they now work, and it's the same boat. Then all you do is save the server and client for each revision, and you'd be your own little demi-god :3

People go ape about dragon claws, so they found a way to add to 317s if you like. If dragon claws is all your after, I feel quite sorry.

No personally i think they seem overpowered. Anyway can someone explain to me how rs server emulation is different to other mmos? (i asked it a few posts back but nobody explained)
