I support lower costs, but I don't support p2p
I really don't care if that makes me unpopular
i honestly DO support that *goes to spam it to all the ppl he knows (#=zero)*
i support p2p, its something that wont go away unless you were to shut down the internet. if prices were fairer i would buy everything, but i just simply dont have $1000 to spend on photoshop, or
now1 likes p2p ... but hey got to live with it
hell yeah i support it, DVD movies, or music CDs are WAY to expensive, and most of them time its 5 or 6 songs out of the 10-12 you like, there is no reason peying money for the half of the CD.If it had lower costs i would surely buy it.More like movies cause its a pita to download them. But songs never, i will always download them
itunes you can dl songs for 99Quote:

when (and if) i go to the university, i will probably keep it "legal" but since now im off america and in my sweet home, i will keep doing it
Movies you should awlays know if you want it. You can always rent it first, and renting has never been easier or cheaper than it is now.Quote:

it is :P
movie renting here is cheap, but game renting is OUT OF THIS WORLD.the prices are completely...evil...Plus, the variety is so small it doesent even worth go looking, and the games dont get updated, on the place i go to rent movies and games, the games are there from 2002 or something
what good does renting do if a movie do if it isnt good? you just spent 4 pounds renting a movie and it turned out to be crap, and 99cents for a tune, thats abit expensive, if you want lots of tunes like 140 tunes in your mp3 player you will have to pay 140dollars... its always best to try it out then buy it. trial versions for software are dumb, like ripping a music of the net, it rips it to 50% then window pop-ups and says "you need to register this version to continue" and your like? wtf? i havent even tried it yet...
You cheapskate! Good luck with a girlfriend! ;)Quote:

And I guess movies are more expensive where you live because at Blockbuster you can rent 2 movies everyday (you switch them out) for $14.99 a month. So instead of paying the old $3.50 a pop, you virtually have the chance of getting $196 worth of rentals for $14.99. That is of course if you go everyday, which a lot of people may only go every other day or something. But still a good deal IMO.
And that's just Blockbuster. There are other places around here like Family Video that have half off clubs and cheaper prices anyway. And late fees are gone, too.
I really have nothing to say about software because like I said I have no idea why prices are that high, besides the fact that enough people must be paying for it (companies primarily, I'm guessing, who HAVE to do things legit).
And one last thing.. You say "try before you buy". That works IN THEORY, however, you must know a lot better people because the people I know (mostly guys in this case), never buy the products after they dl it. With the fact that you can now print out album covers for the cds, the game covers the for the games, etc, people are more than happy with making their own.. if of course they are so inclined to care about the box art.
Now let's say a normal person DOES buy it after they try it (which I disagree with). That still leaves a ton of people that don't.. Yes, there will always be illegal activities, and in theory p2p doesn't sound bad.. But I can't blame the companies for wanting to prosecute, because in the end, this is all about money. Both sides of it. People don't want to pay and people want to be paid. Or people don't want to pay as much.. That's something that should be discussed more tbh
I say we also start looking into why they need to charge so much. There's of course paying off the record company, the artists, the managers, the producers, the advertisers, the packagers, on and on. So there's probably a lot of cost that goes into it.. I don't really know tho!
im totally with becky on this one
people should be payed for their work, that goes without saying
but the prices that are charged are frikkin ludacris
Yeah don't get me wrong, a lot of the prices are insane. Especially software.Quote:

Back then, lots of games were $60+ and now the new ones are about $49.99 (some games actually come out cheaper, but rarely). That of course may be due to the fact that cd's are cheaper to make.
However, as I said, people seem to think that just because a cd in essence is dirt cheap that the price should be as well; but then let's think of all the work it takes to get that cd out of the factory. Then let's think of the wages that must be paid to the factory workers. That's all before you think about the costs I listed in my last post, which I'm sure there is even more when it comes to video game delevoping.
Like I said, don't get me wrong, there's NO ONE out there that can say they are happy with the prices (except maybe the guys making the profits, or really rich ppl lol) but it is what is. Until people stop buying at a record rate, it's going to continue. Although, on the flipside of that thought, prices may/could actually go up if people aren't buying, because the companies can use the "losing profits due to downloading" line.
