Re: [Xbox 360] What to buy?
Here in Holland we have a store that'll get you the cheapest gaming devices out there, From the internet, new or wherever from. It's called Haniel, maybe you got something like that in the USA?
I'd go to a store if i were u, used ones might have complications.
Re: [Xbox 360] What to buy?
Oh, and I heard that I can use the Xbox Live cord that came with my Xbox 360, and just plug it into my computer, and it'll just use the wireless from that. Will this work? If so, what do I need to plug in, and where?
Re: [Xbox 360] What to buy?
That's correct Mike. I use my laptop to act as wireless adapter. Simply bridge the connection. As for live, I can get it as cheap as £27 from here. http://cheapxboxlivecodes.com/xbox-l...-subscription/
You buy it, they'll e-mail you the code and you redeem it.
Like Apple, Microsoft charge an arm and a leg for their products. It's probably best you buy the chatpad new, but I don't really recommend it. You could always just use MSN on your PC, as I find it's extremely slow on the Xbox.

Okay, I read some tutorials. Apparently I need a crossover cable. Will this one work? http://cgi.ebay.com/CROSSOVER-10-FT-...item2eab749c33

Using your wireless connection from PC/laptop instead of wired.
Re: [Xbox 360] What to buy?
ElM, does this work too?
Also, if I did do that, is this the correct cable I need? And the cable that comes with the Xbox does not work for this, correct?
Re: [Xbox 360] What to buy?
1: yes its the same as what i said above. all you need to do is plug your 360 to pc/laptop via ethernet and share the wireless connection over to your 360.
2: the ethernet cable packed with 360s is fine

Ughh, i'm quite busy atm but since irl problems have stopped me doing something i can post some better info.
so like above. 360 > PC > router
the ethernet cable that you get with your 360 is like any normal cable, i donno what you are reading but stop, its garbage.
plug your 360 into your pc and go into network + sharing, (Im on W7 so if you ain't improvise.) in your wireless LAN status. hit properties and hit the sharing tab and with ICS, allow others to control your WLAN connection.
Now with your internet on and 360 connected. in adapter settings (where you can see all your LANs right click your wireless LAN and bridge connections, with your 360 so you can taking a connection from your PC to your 360.
Re: [Xbox 360] What to buy?
Okay, I plugged it in (the cord that came with the Xbox) to my PC, and my Xbox.
This now shows up when I hover my connected to networks (normally it only shows the CDN one):
http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/8596/networkf.jpg
However, I'm looking for Network and Sharing, I can't find it though.
Oh, I found this:

Nothing about properties though. I'm using Windows Vista, by the way. Could you help me find it? Or do you not know how to on Vista?

That's what I'm supposed to do I think, but it's giving me an error. Wow, setting up live is like rocket science. Why do they make this so hard?
Re: [Xbox 360] What to buy?
Could be plenty of reasons, they want to keep stealing money from overpriced peripherals. Anyway, what you are doing now is the correct way but I never get that error.
Re: [Xbox 360] What to buy?
That's correct Mike. Then go to your adapter properties (That window > Manage wireless networks > adapter properties). Click the sharing tab, and tick, "Allow other users to connect through this computer's internet connection."
Re: [Xbox 360] What to buy?
Yep, I ticked both of those boxes, and it won't let me past that error. Any ideas?
I don't think I get the error if I only tick the top box, but I watched a video that said that you need both to have NAT opened so it doesn't cause problems.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAw6xVN9vsg"]YouTube- Connect to Xbox Live Wirelessly (w/laptop) VISTA[/ame]
The error happens at 3:30 into the video, when clicking "OK" :/

Update: Tyler is on Team Viewer with me, and oh yet again it fails. This shouldn't be so damn hard! =/
Re: [Xbox 360] What to buy?
IF you dont want to go through the entire wirless hassel you could play wired with a either net cord from ur xbox to the back of your wirless router if u have one with extra ports like mine does
