Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc
Step1: Register an Account
Go to website of No-IP.
http://www.no-ip.com/
http://i42.tinypic.com/1z23ecl.jpg
and click at Create Account.
Fill out all that emty fields, so that you can register.
http://i39.tinypic.com/zyh55v.jpg
I'm not realy shure what follows now, but I think you receave an email
with an activation-link in it.
Follow all that to activate your account and after that continue with Step2.
Step2: Create a Host
Click at "Hosts/Redirects"
http://i44.tinypic.com/2moxjky.jpg
(The two hosts are just because I allready use two)
and then at "add a Host"
http://i42.tinypic.com/23ie9nd.jpg
Now just fill in the red-marked fields.
The hostname can be anything wich is still availible. most prefered is a host like " *****.no-ip.org "
Then click at "Create Host" at the right-bottom corner.
http://i39.tinypic.com/14cya6c.jpg
That's it. He have finished with wesite stuff.

Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
Step3: Install No-ip duc
Fist, start your server and login as root.
Than tipe in: " apt-get install no-ip "
http://i41.tinypic.com/2ch965j.jpg
The installer starts and guides you throught.
At first you have to insert your No-IP.com user name.
(NOT the Hostname)
http://i39.tinypic.com/2m26zj5.jpg
The Password
http://i44.tinypic.com/35lua29.jpg
The updating intervall. All 30 minutes is all right.
http://i43.tinypic.com/347txqb.jpg
List of hosts or groups. if you just use one host you can leave this field emty.
http://i43.tinypic.com/xpakvs.jpg
Network device name, can be left like it is.
http://i39.tinypic.com/15mg192.jpg
and that as well.
http://i43.tinypic.com/a4xuki.jpg
That was the installation!!!
http://i41.tinypic.com/20r93xk.jpg
reboot your server and your done with that.
The only thing you need now, is to open the port 80 for your serverip (hrace009 release=192.168.0.10)
If you have followed all that you have now a public server !!!
Attention: You can't test if your server is availible at that Host name, because it is your public ip.
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
When I type apt-get install no-ip, it says 'Couldn't find package no-ip'?
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
I use hrace009's server, it's Ubuntu I think.
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
That's strange. I used the hrace009 release to make this tutorial.
http://i43.tinypic.com/1z6u8p.jpg

Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
Hmm it's my vbox, I tried the apt-get command a couple of times with wine etc. and it said the same thing. Time to mess around with the configuration.
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
try it with "apt-get install noip2"
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
Nope that doesn't work either. :(
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
no-ip is in the universe repositories.
to enable the repo edit the source.list:
Quote:
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
un-comment the univers repos.
(remove the #)
example:
change to:
then try:
Quote:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install no-ip
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
My printscreen doesn't work for some reason, but the repos were already uncommented, and when I typed sudo apt-get update, it gave a lot of 'failed to fetch' errors.
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
No problem, thanks for trying. I'll figure it out somehow, I always do.
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
hmm ...
maybe in the / etc / resolv.conf error check back again ..
or try to ping from your Vbox to your router or modem if I can ..?
Vbox IP check with your current IP Computer use
maybe this can help
or maybe you can be patient waiting for me to upload a version of Vmware server hrace009
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
Sure I can wait no problem.
My problem is that vbox can't connect to the internet at all, and I assume the no-ip package has to be downloaded from there. I used all 4 possible network configuration options but none of them work so far.

I uploaded a new job 10% walk .. possible until 3 days

Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
Looks like I'm not the only one who has that problem. I tried all possible network configs for Vbox but apt-get update fails and it says package not found. Don't know what else to modify.

Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
i think its the package: " noip2 " -> http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/noip2 [ Quellcode: no-ip ] configuration are the same i think
Code:
sudo apt-get install noip2

I dont't know if it is possible to share the internet connection in Host-Only Mode. I'm using Bridged Mode, but you need a router for this...

Hehe! Hello everybody!
I have made a tutorial for NO-IP in the past xD
Then, i refresh the post here:

5. Download the client and connect with your account
6. Just let the no-ip client to retrieve your sub-domain list...
Now you can have a static external access for your server with your dynamic dns!
In the serverlist.txt for your client, you need to put your domain.
example:
Code:
my pwserver 29000:mydomain.no-ip.biz 1
(the space are made with the Tab key and not the Space key!)
note:
don't forget to make a shortcut of NO-IP DUC in your Start menu of windows!
otherwise, your players will be not able to access on your server if you forget to run the NO IP client!

Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
I am having a bit of trouble enabling internet in my virtual box.
my vbox config is this
http://i790.photobucket.com/albums/y.../vboxipnew.jpg
http://i790.photobucket.com/albums/y...oxsettings.jpg
and internet connection sharing is enabled
http://i790.photobucket.com/albums/y...netsharing.jpg
I am running this on a Windows Vista on a router.
I cant seem to get internet access and pinging outside ips says host is unreachable.
pinging my host ip takes forever and doesnt return anything.
any help would be appreciated thx. :):
edit the subnet mask of vbox is 255.255.255.0 idk why it was set to 255.255.0.0 like in the screenshot.
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
what comes when you tipein "ifconfig"?
---------- Post added at 08:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:43 PM ----------
if you have a router change your connection type to "bridged mode"
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
I am already using bridged mode as shown in the screenshot. I did have it set up before with windows bridging but I dont know if I had internet access then either.
anyway here is what I get when I type ifconfig
http://i790.photobucket.com/albums/y...1/ifconfig.jpg
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
three things:
eth0 started: yes
bridged mode(if you have a router): yes
corect ip type: your pwserver requires 192.168.0.0 networks.
what are your windows ip's like?
if they are like 192.168.178.x then you have to change your
server ip.

I now have no-ip installed and have a domain name for my ip but when i ping myself i get no response. I would say this has something to do with my router itself. Is there anything you can recommend I change to allow my router to respond to the outside world.
thx
I can ping my router and get a reply yet still cant connect from outside

Your interfaces reflects your network configuration. If your vbox is connected to your router it is correct and does not need changing.
Have you installed no-ip on vbox?
Basically you only need to Register a domain name, establish internet in vbox and install and setup no-ip.

Broadcast -- No change
Gateway -- Should = your routers exact IP address
on your router you are going to want to forward the following ports:
29000 for the game itself
80 if you want people from the WAN side to be able to register or access /opt/lampp/htdocs etc...
Obviously you want to forward both of those ports to the IP of your server, which would appear to be 192.168.0.10 by your example.

You will need internet connection in vbox.
step 1. Can you ping your router?
Yes goto step 2.
no edit your interfaces to relect your router and make sure you are using bridged mode and try step 1 again.
Step 2. Can you ping and external site?
Yes goto step 3.
no are you sure your interfaces if right and there is no firewalls or anything blocking you.
Step 3. Can you ping the ubuntu repositories?
Yes goto step 4.
no edit you resolv.conf to reflect your router ip
Step 4. Type
Code:
apt-get update
apt-get install noip2
If all goes successfully no-ip will be downloaded.
Setup no-ip and port forward your router.

Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
if you have a native linux server with a wlan card you just have to change eth0 to wlan0.
With vBox in bridged mode it doesn't metter if your hostcomputer of the vbox have a cable or wireless connection.

Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
Sorry for bumping this topic, but I managed to get everything working, except now when I put the IP or hostname in my serverlist.txt, i can't connect to the server. I can ping to it from Vbox, but I get the -- thing in PW and can't connect to it. Does it only work if you have a router? I only have a modem, and I tried opening port 80 but that didn't help either.
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
Perfect World uses port 29000. Try opening that. Idk if it will work with a modem. Also try a site like http://ping.eu/port-chk and type the ip of your server eg myserver.no-ip.biz and 29000 in the port and see if its open.
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
Hmm, it's closed. I tried opening it with my firewall but it still shows as closed. How can I open it?
I managed to open it, but I still can't connect. It waits for 40 seconds then disconnects. :(

Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
I have made that Tutorial with the Harace release, cause I think that's the most up to date startingpoint for the most of you.
So it should be Ubuntu 8.04.
I'm not that shure, because i don't have that image anymore.

I opened ports 29000 and 8080. I only opened 8080 so that my friend can use pwAdmin. You can get people to register with http://your-ip/pw/register on port 80 which you may need to forward.

Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
I used this site to test my if my ports were forward properly.

I assume you are using bridged mode for your server connected to a router? Did you forward the ports to your server or the host machine (if using vbox)?

If using bridged mode with vbox forward the ports to your vbox ip not the host. ie forward to 192.168.0.10

Which ip would i change?
because both are technically wrong
my network is like 192.168.1.1 so on and so forth not the current set which is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.0.10 if that makes sense so which ips would i change? both or which one could you please specify which one i will need to change and where else i would need to change the ip
Thanks.

Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
Change to bridged mode and make sure the vbox bridged mode driver is enable on your network card.
http://i790.photobucket.com/albums/y...vboxdriver.png
edit your /etc/network/interfaces
Code:
#The primary network interface
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.X
netmask 255.255.255.0 #Subnet mask
network 192.168.1.0 #Network
broardcast 192.168.1.255 #Broardcast
gateway 192.168.1.1 #This is your gateway which is your router.
# dns-* options are implemented by the resolvconf package, if installed
dns-nameservers 192.168.1.1 #dns if you have it.
resolv.conf
Code:
nameservers 192.168.1.1
Then change the ips in the following files except 0.0.0.0
Code:
/PWServer/gacd/gamesys.conf
/PWServer/gamed/gmserver.conf
/PWServer/gamed/gs.conf
/PWServer/gamed/gsrollback.conf
/PWServer/gamedbd/cashstat.conf
/PWServer/gamedbd/gamesys.conf
/PWServer/gdeliveryd/gamesys.conf
/PWServer/gfactiond/gamesys.conf
/PWServer/glinkd/gamesys.conf
/PWServer/logservice/logservice.conf
/PWServer/uniquenamed/gamesys.conf
/etc/authd.conf
/etc/gmopgen.xml
/etc/GMserver.conf
/etc/hosts
/etc/iweb.conf
/root/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/webapps/pwAdmin/.pwconf.conf
You may need to clear the cache of tomcat by deleting the contents of the work folder in tomcat.
Then type
Then
Code:
apt-get install noip2
Follow the guide on the first post
Then forward your ports on your router
29000 = Perfert world server (You Must forward this for obvious reasons)
80 = apache webserver this contains the http://192.168.0.10/pw
8080 = apache tomcat. This is pwAdmin
It is up to you whether you forward ports 80 and 8080. Keep in mind that players need a way to register.

so i dont knowif someone already ask this..but

a little how it wll work..
well thanks in advanced

Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
When i switch to bridged mode i cannot do anything.
i cant access the server via wincp on 192.168.0.10 nor any other ip address
i have the adapter enabled on my network card like you said.
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
bridged mode are host ip range like second or third pc on your network - you musst change all ips with one of you host network ...
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
So the 192.168.0.10 would be changed to the next available ip by my router like for instance
192.168.1.3
so it would look like so.
-/etc/network/interfaces-
Code:
#The primary network interface
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.3
netmask 255.255.255.0 #Subnet mask
network 192.168.1.1 #Network
broardcast 192.168.1.255 #Broardcast
gateway 192.168.1.1 #This is your gateway which is your router.
# dns-* options are implemented by the resolvconf package, if installed
dns-nameservers 192.168.1.1 #dns if you have it.
-resolv.conf-
Code:
nameservers 192.168.1.1 <-- no idea if i need to change
-then-
Change all the ips in these files from 192.168.0.10 to 192.168.0.3 ?
Code:
/PWServer/gacd/gamesys.conf
/PWServer/gamed/gmserver.conf
/PWServer/gamed/gs.conf
/PWServer/gamed/gsrollback.conf
/PWServer/gamedbd/cashstat.conf
/PWServer/gamedbd/gamesys.conf
/PWServer/gdeliveryd/gamesys.conf
/PWServer/gfactiond/gamesys.conf
/PWServer/glinkd/gamesys.conf
/PWServer/logservice/logservice.conf
/PWServer/uniquenamed/gamesys.conf
/etc/authd.conf
/etc/gmopgen.xml
/etc/GMserver.conf
/etc/hosts
/etc/iweb.conf
/root/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/webapps/pwAdmin/.pwconf.conf
if someone could pm me there whole config so i may see and edit where i should then it would be great or post here.

yea it was a typo sorry about that.
ok i will give this a shot.

-Double Post- Sorry
Ok everything seems to be working great but.
my ips etc are sending me to my router page any ideas?
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
Did you forward your ports?
It will be something to do with your router.
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
I have forwarded every port that is needed.
all my ips lead me back to my router configuration page
And my no-ip sends me there also which is annoying as hell since this is the last piece of the puzzle lol.
-Edit-
Figured it out fixed :P
Thought i cant get pwadmin to load now -.- lol.
-Edit-
Got pwAdmin running thought i cannot access 2 of the pages.
Server Control <- comes up with nothing just the menu bar
Characters <- does the same as above.
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
Characters site goes on after server start ...
-
Re: Tutorial: How to use no-ip duc!! With pictures!!!
Thats the point i cannot start the server because i cannot view the Server Control tab i click it and nothing comes up i just see the menu bar above it.
-Edit-
Does anyone has any ideas why i cannot view Server Control page in pwAdmin? i have reinstalled pwadmin 3 times now for no change.
-Edit-
Ok now im somewhat baffled lol.
i have 2 pwAdmins 1 is allowing me to open my server and not letting me edit characters or add [GM] etc
The second one allows me to edit characters etc add gm delete charcacters etc but does not let me view server control and character pages.
Also pwAdmin <-1 lets me login with 1 user.
and pwAdmin <1 lets me use a differant 1
and both have the exact same config.
1 use's my user obviously root
and the other use's my password.

I don't know how you are able to connect to the server because to me the interfaces looks wrong.
Your resolv.conf looks correct and as does the vbox settings.
I take it you managed to install no-ip?
Its also pointless testing both connections on the same PC. The PC connecting to your no-ip address must be outside your internal network.
As for your most recent image. It looks like you have logged into the server and can create a character but can't access the world. In my experience this is because the location you are trying to enter is not available. Make sure that all the required maps are running then login and/or change your characters location via pwAdmin.

In the interfaces 1 guide says the ip cannot be 192.168.0.10 need be in the same range an my ip is 192.168.1.x i changed for 198.168.1.4 but when do the same to VBOX i cant enter to the pwAdmin, if i let the VBOX in 192.168.0.1 and the interfaces 198.168.1.4 can enter to pwAdmin & game.
And the 2 guide says other things =S and i lost because say the ip be the same in the VBOX an ADDRESS.
this is mi ip.
router ip: 189.221.196.132
ip lan: 192.168.1.1
red lad: 192.168.1.2
wlan: 192.168.1.3
and put this ip to the vbox: 192.168.1.5
and change the address in the interfaces to: 192.168.1.4
if change the VBOX to 192.168.1.4 i lost the conection
only in this mode can access to pwAdmi or i have to let the vbox whit the initial 192.168.0.1
The dns i put the router ip and put this in no-ip.
If can sayme the rigth configuration i preciated.
