New Film Release Discussion

Hey everyone, I'm posting this thread to inform users of new films and if I'm feeling up to it, provide trailers/reviews/ratings, etc. and I encourage all of you to participate in the reviewing and rating of the new films.

All ratings listed are according to that of Yahoo! Movies.

AVG critic rating - This is defined by the critics' ratings according to Yahoo! Movies. To be honest, I don't know where they get the "critics" from, but if anyone knows, inform me.

AVG user rating - Obviously defined by the ratings for a film according to the registered users at Yahoo.com

Trailer rating - This is my own personal rating of the film based solely on the synopsis and trailer of the film.

Clash of the Titans - [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6CJenNMsb4"]YouTube- 'Clash of the Titans' Trailer HD[/nomedia] - To be honest, I have mixed feelings about this film. The special effects and the plot as presented in the trailer makes the film look awesome. I've been a fan of Greek and Roman mythology for a long time now, and this movie seems perfect for my taste. But with the recent force of 3D thrusted upon the audience by produces and companies, I've had a lackluster feeling about attending the cinema. Greek and Roman mythology, special effects, and more seems awesome at first glance... but we'll see how this plays out.

The Last Song - [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joCwQ2pjfjw"]YouTube- 'The Last Song' Trailer HD[/nomedia] - Okay, I'm going to be brutally honest. This film looks absolutely horrible and pathetic. I've never read a book by Nicholas Sparks and I never shall, thanks to his Dear John and now this.. The Last Song. The only decent film that has and ever will come out from Nicholas Sparks was The Notebook. Miley Cyrus was so eager to get rid of her Hannah Montana image, but now she's falling right back into the little girl mindset with this lame, over-done, unoriginal love film. No one goes to the beach and falls in love, and if they do, it's nowhere near as picturesque as this film. I haven't seen it, and I do not plan to. I recommend the same for you!

Alice in Wonderland - [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjMkNrX60mA"]YouTube- Alice in Wonderland Teaser 1[/nomedia] - Myself? I've always been a fan of Tim Burton's films (except Coraline). Burton has a really eerie and creepy quality about him and his films that I absolutely love, and Alice in Wonderland seems like no exception. However, I've read mixed reviews about his film.. it's either people love it or people just don't flat out like it. I don't think I will be seeing this at the cinema (unfortunately) so I might download it soon. Mad Hatter looks incredible, by the with, and the red queen. In my honest opinion, no matter what anyone says, this film looks worth the 10-something dollars at the theater.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZVEIgPeDCE"]YouTube- Diary of a Wimpy Kid Trailer[/nomedia] - Everytime I hear this film mentioned by reviewers or on television or whatever, it all starts out the same: "We've all read the books..." This is an obviously false statement, because I have never read a book. from the trailer, this appears to be a really corny, kiddy movie... but I've heard there are some pretty mature references inside the film. Once I read more reviews, if they turn out good, I actually might check this film out just for the hell of it. Plus, the ratings lead me to believe that it might be decent.

Hot Tub Time Machine - [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DCFPS58KYY"]YouTube- 'Hot Tub Time Machine' Trailer[/nomedia] - Now from the trailer, this movie looks pretty dumb, but kind of funny too. I actually downloaded this film a couple nights ago for the hell of it, and let me say, this is a definite download. This movie is quite hilarious, and definitely worth the download wait. I think we can all agree that Craig Robinson is a fucking hilarious black guy, and he adds most of the comedy to this film.

How To Train Your Dragon - [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHUhygdAZIw"]YouTube- How to Train Your Dragon Official Trailer[/nomedia] - Now I am definitely not a huge fan of animated/3D movies. The only good 3D animated movie to ever exist was Toy Story. But for some reason, this is #1 at the box office, with surprisingly good ratings from both the critics and the users. These ratings and rankings have altered my choice to watch this film. This will definitely be another download. To be honest, I can't really say anything about the trailer because honestly, it looks like every other animated out there today. If anyone has seen this, please provide me with your comments/insight.

She's Out of My League - [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWG1I7lwac0"]YouTube- She's Out of My League - Trailer - 2010[/nomedia] - When I first saw this trailer, I knew I would want to see this film. It looked flat out hilarious just from the trailer. I'm a big fan of Jay Baruchel, and this looks like a good fit for him. I'm psyched to see this.

Green Zone - [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSX7LaFtwIU"]YouTube- 'Green Zone' Trailer[/nomedia] - Another bullshit action film with Matt Damon. What else is there to say? I won't be seeing it.

Shutter Island - Trailer - What d'ya know? I've actually seen this film, in theaters! The minute I saw this trailer I knew I had to see it. It engulfed me. I don't want to ruin the story, but this film has so many twists and turns that your mind will be blown after the movie, and your mind will keep coming up with numerous theories even days after the film. DiCaprio does an amazing performance in this film, like always. The effects, performances, story, etc. are all amazing. I definitely recommend this film.

Now you must definitely add to the list of "Coming soon 2010" is, of course, Iron Man 2!
I will do more of an entire movie review, only because I can better describe how I thought the movie turned out or how I think it should of.
As I will review, Alice in Wonderland, Clash of the Titans, and The Warlords, since I have only seen these:ott1:

Alice in Wonderland: Now, I really like Tim Burton's films, Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actors so I was thinking, man this movie is going to be sweet! Well, I had mixed feelings, it just didn't feel like something was there. Hard to explain but maybe it was because of just how things were, I don't know. But, as I went on watching the movie, it did have a good plot that kept moving, acting was done pretty well to me (and good choice of actors). The ending was pretty good and they did have some comical moments.
In end I would give this movie a B

Clash of the Titans: Now I already kind of did a review in another thread so I will just add onto that and post the link Read this first then my full review.
When you first see the trailer, I was thinking, mythology, fighting, Gods, Titans, what else could you ask for in a movie based on Mythology. Even though this was a remake and I have never seen the first I am just going to criticize on how this turned out and how it should of. To follow up on how I was going on my first sort of review is the things they put into the movie. It just felt like they were in a hurry. I mean, this is Greek Mythology we are talking about, there are so many ways to make this movie amazing and go into much greater detail. I think the choice of acting was pretty well done, they had some actors from movies that I couldn't really imagine them being as that spot but then they really did a good job performing it. There was a feeling that you only saw really 5 places in the entire movie, and well you pretty much only did. Now maybe that is how the first movie was and they are trying to follow it, but c'mon! this is 2010 and we have 3D and all this crap and you want to follow a movie from 1980? But, acting was an important part in this and if they didn't pick the actors they did, I would of gave this an F.

So to my conclusion I gave this movie a, C+

The Warlords: The best thing I can say for this movie is if you like; chinese movies with english subtitles, Jet li, and chinese martial arts fighting with weapons. Other than that I can say if you don't like any of those then minds well not watch it. For people who like those, this movie was great. Great acting, great plot, great everything. It really told a story in such a way that almost made you feel like "wow, how could he do that". Like I said the story is just amazing, it is a pretty long movie but they did a terrific job and couldn't have done it any better.

My rating for this is a A
