go on mpogd.com and do and you can search their database for the most highly rated browser based mmos (and get very specific).
I liked race war kingdoms, but due to many reasons I can't really recommend it :P
Quake Live and Minecraft are kinda cool.
A good way to find browser based mmos is to search for ones written in java.
