Re: black panther and white
Unpack the models.pck, check the mount/pet structure of the .ecm/.dds of the White Panther. Open the .ecm file in notepad, try editing the MOXTVersion to a compatible version of your exe file. Repack then try it out.

Okay. Now I have some more information to provide on my little problem- when I looked at the MOXTversion's of both panthers, they were different (white -> 45, black -> 21). Then I changed the white one to 21 to match the black, and saw that gave me the same error as what I did prior to this, so I changed back to the original files and repacked again and it was back to "normal", unmoving. (Also noticed there were a few other differences in those files between the two)
Second, today someone gave me this idea, so, I tried only replacing that .ECM file from the white panther, with the one from the black panther's files (instead of just the number itself), and received this error when trying to start my client.
(I did not catch a screen shot of the first errors I received the other day when I tried replacing everything besides the textures -.dds-, and then when I tried only changing the one number inside the file, but I know it said "[Models.pck]" in a different position both of those times, so I know this one i've attached is a totally different error.)
Re: black panther and white
My post got lost off the pages already...
I'm still looking for help with this if anyone's got any info on it-
I've even tried a fresh client to see if maybe the one I updated before was funky from messing with other files.
This is a recap of my problem:
I get similar errors every time I try to fix a inanimate mount (my example being the white panther/jaguar that seems to be a re-skin of the black "windsprint panther" I think it's called), a bunch of gibberish with models.pck in various places within the description of the error. (see my posts before)
I tried what kag0ryu (I hope I got your name correctly spelled, by the way) suggested by looking at the MOXTversion in the ECM files and they were different, i've tried changing the numbers, and the whole file. Neither worked.
If anyone has any input on what I might be missing or lacking in my little situation here, this would be much appreciated. [Even if it is a simple newbie mistake on my part, please point it out?]
Thanks :)
Re: black panther and white
maybe you have an error in packaging .. Boxed model.pck try it with the default mode
Code:
pwpack -c models.pck.files models.pck -r -z 9
sorry if I'm wrong ..
Re: black panther and white
The version of pwpack you're using is outdated and can only produce pck for pw client <1.3.1, if you want to use CN 1.3.6 or higher you need the 2008 version of pwpack at least.
Version should be displayed when you run it, you probably have the 2007 one.
Alternatively you can attempt to hex edit, what changes is the copyright notice in the last 200ish bytes of the pck file.

i'll check on that to make sure which version (don't think i know off the top of my head). if that really is the case, would you (or anyone else) mind advising me where could i find a newer version of pwpack?
thanks a ton
*********EDIT**********
bingo!
souris, thanks, that was it. (see attached picture)
i'd still like to know where i can find a more recent/up-to-date copy of pwpack however. if you or anyone else has insight on that, would be wonderful. i got my original copy ('07) here on ragezone but haven't seen more recent.
thanks again!!!

Romulans tool pack has 2007 and 2008.
http://forum.ragezone.com/5583811-post5.html
And Romulans second pack and the version I use both have no version so ill guess ill have to open them with a hexeditor to find out.
Edit: the version I use is 2008 and the version in Romulans second tool pack is 2007

- Add the White Egg (27001) to you gshop.data
- After hatching you recieve the White Jaguar Mount (27000)
- It's working perfectly with the ECM/GFX 1.4.2 @ 1.3.6 file pack

as Drakaer (hope i got the spelling correct) said, it's already in the "visad" files... however I plan on working on my own versions in the near future :) i'll probably share when the time comes. my only issue is how to get them -my own mounts and creations, separate to the ones already existant on the server- to link to the server/ appear on it. lol.
Re: black panther and white
How did you wind up manually fixing this ? (I currently have a mount not showing animations that I would like to manually fix)
Re: black panther and white
Editing the .ECM file to something similar (for instance "windsprint panther" and the one I edited- white jaguar) but that seems to only work with ones that are based off the same animations. which mount is it you're trying to fix?
Re: black panther and white
I am actually importing the new tiger (Blazing Tempest){27855} from PWi. Currently I only need to fix the animations and add the gfx effects :)
Re: black panther and white
New tiger being "blazing tempest"?
I'll get back to you on that in a few hours most likely, it's on my agenda to fix that one as well. When I take a look at it myself i'll have a better idea of what's needed. Unfortunately i've seen it on PWI and it does not move like the windsprint panther so, it's gonna need something different I think.
I would also appreciate any feedback on this mount as well from anyone else who would like to comment xD
If it's a different mount, what's it called on your server might I ask? xD
EDIT nevermind, I don't know why I didnt see the rest of your post LOL
yeah, i'll look at that and get back to you if I have any ideas.
Meanwhile if anyone else also has feedback, would be useful :)

Re: black panther and white
Yes, this is a recent development for me. I just decided today, a few hours ago if that -- to add Blazing Tempest to my private server: here's what I have to work with after locating the model for it in models.pck:
{now onto gfx and animation :)}
Re: black panther and white
Yeah. It looks like that here too. I'll get started on it in a few and keep posted on here when I figure something out. Its an interesting mount in PWI. I wonder if finding their files on their client and replacing the .ECM from there would work? That would be where I would start, or at least look at their's and see what's different than the one you or I have.
I've learned to keep a fresh install of PWI fully updated for those sort of uses for comparison and stuff.
Re: black panther and white
I just did some "homework" 'if you will'. Although the Panther and the Blazing Tempest do have totally different 'idle' animations, their walk/run animations seem very close, albeit I'm sure they probably aren't identical; I am sure if for any reason we have to, we can "get away" with utilizing the Panthers animations for the Blazing Tempest (in a last resort scenario) ;)
Re: black panther and white
Perhaps, might be a fun idea to try. I notice looking at PWI's blazing tempest, most of the .ECM file seems absolutely identical to the one i'm using. Mine is a little shorter (meaning less information to look to?) but it's not anything I can noticeably say would make a difference*? After looking at the other files in there i'm going to try replacing the .ecm's.
*meaning, I have no idea what those missing lines do xD
Re: black panther and white
Which one of yours were you comparing it to?
Re: black panther and white
ah. I think I know what you're asking but correct me if i'm wrong.
...\models\matters\... is for the little box or egg that you can throw on the ground when you drop the item in your inventory to the ground (in this case, mount)
...\models\NPCs\... is for the mount itself's files when the player has it hatched and usable.
And then there is surfaces.pck reference showing in the elements.data which... I don't think is the issue here.
Re: black panther and white
I meant which ECMs were you comparing? Right now I am attempting to compare a few different ECMs from Blazing Tempest, Panther, and another...
