Nothing official about that has been announced yet.
YouTube- Introducing Google TV
Another step towards ruling the world.Quote:
Google TV Beta was announced today, and it is very interesting how Google will handle the media with Google TV. We can expect to see Google TV coming this fall. That’s only about 4 – 6 months away from today.
The price of Google TV is not available as of now officially, but we expect it to be in the range of cheapest Atom based devices, $150 will be the sweet spot though, however the price will depend heavily on final features and specifications.
The development toolkit for Google TV is expected to become available within next few months, you could also expect TVs from Sony with built in Google TV as well as standalone Google TV hardware, on the other hand Logitech is said to be working on a keyboard based remote control for the device.
I like how they make watching cable sound so hard. haha
But it is nice, I have Netflix streaming HD content through my xbox so if I had Google TV it would be that much better. I can see myself getting it someday depending on how much it costs.
This does look actually quite ingenius. It was only a matter of time before someone came along and started streaming movies via the internet onto our TVs. Like DaCheat said it depends on the price, but if it is reasonable I'll consider getting myself one.
While I was watching the introduction about this Google TV it somewhat improve the way I could watch porn.
Geh :)

cOOL I guess :D
Is it going to be America only?...
Net neutrality my arse.
So what? We get something that tracks what we watch and organizes shit on our TV for us?
I am almost certain none of this information will be stored on the local box or TV, but rather on Google's TV server. That is, now they know what you search for, everything you watch on youtube, everything you send in an e-mail, and now what you watch on TV.
Anyone else getting a little weirded out at how comfortable Google is making itself with personal/private information? I foresee serious privacy lawsuits or concerns arising from this.
What Google TV should be: internet based subscription TV service. No more of this paying exorbitant rates on satellite TV or even higher, retarded level rates to a local cable company because they have a massive monopoly in the region. But no, it's just another data mining interface.
Internet TV is the future, Google TV is just a worthless concept because it doesn't actually do anything, in fact most smart TVs now can do youtube, netflix, etc, so the technology isn't even innovative or new. Adding a search bar, that's their big one-up. Fuck that. Do something new, Google, and stop being obvious data trolls.
"Don't be evil." My ass.
I think that's a very good idea , now we can use the internet into the TV .
people already do this with some home entertainment setups anyways.
Well it's just like the internet. Every action you do is stored on a server somewhere. The only reason very few people are getting into trouble is because there is so much info and the governments are years behind sorting it all.
I agree with you that they will probably store it, and that it is scary. Sounds like it will be just like Tivo. Storing your info, and "learning" what you like, then giving you suggestions.
That's what they say about their other web apps too. Search, office, email, youtube, etc. They mine everything, and they sell the information to advertisers and 3rd parties.
Further, because they store the information likely in a way that is personally identifiable (see /. on "fingerprints", also IP address tracking + time + "habits" = personally identifiable), if any investigative branch of the govt. has a warrant, EVERYTHING you did would be available to them, incl. EVERYTHING you watched. I can see this being very bad for "coincidence" arguments. "Oh look, he was interested in tv shows and movies and videos on youtube of ABC, and then he watched these videos on youtube of people showing you how to BCD, and he searched here for information about this, he definitely did it!"
Their advertising shit sucks anyway, surely with how much information they gather if they can't even produce semi-decent targeted ads, their cover of "we just want it for advertising purposes" is complete horse-shit.
This makes me want to pummel someone's face in with a two foot steel baseball bat. :D
