after i installed VMware I get to this screen....
what to to?!
If the Cabal server on your Computer
choose in the Combobox Localhost
and try OK
i wrote in the first box Localhost and what should I write in the user and password?
If your Connection is Correctly you dont have to choose anything..
so your problem could be the Selected Connection(should be bridged by running it on a Home-PC)..
cya..
Well the whole picture is that I have installed SQL server, downloaded CentOS, and installed VMware. After I click OK with some random user and password I wrote I get this error: "cannot connect to host localhost.no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"
So... w00t?!
that means, that VmWare doesnt know, where to find/search the localhost,as you have to show it...
as i didnt used VmWare for ages,i cant tell you where exactly, but find OPTIONS,and look for Network Settings...
there you have to choos "bridged"
to get sure, please take a look at Chumpy's guide.there you will find your solution.otherwise try searching the forums for that Problems...
Regards.
I tried several stuff... everything got me into the same error.
Now I tried my local IP address (router) and I got a new error... seams like there is a connection but... :
edit: where do i set user name and password? is it the computer user? is it the SQL user?
well.. if you use vista or 7 you have to be Admin..
and i guess you would be admin,so there is an other problem.
as you dont show your Properties( Options ) we cant help you very much.
even with no infos(OS) we cant help you.
so please post us so,me infos about your Computer and internet connection.
and please post OS infos.
maybe with one or 2 screens..
Regards.
Well my current OS is Windows 7 64x with 2G of ram - Quad core Q8800 .
I also got a server with windows XP on it... you think it will work there?

And what password I need to input there? I mean... it's something needed to be set up or it's the SQL password?
nice Infos.. but..
as far as i understand that,you've got 2 Computers..1 with 7 x64..one with xp...
if you want to use the x64-PC there is a guide somewhere, how to setup a server on x64-PC's..
And now..back to your Problem.. No..you dont need any Password or Username...
Just choose "localhost" from Drop-Down-Menu...
you will see, after you chose you dont need any username or password...
Maybe you did something wrong during the installation...
did you read some guides ??
if yes. which guides did you read ??
regards
If you don't need 1 of the servers, install centOS on it,it's better:)
On the installation of VMware it was written "32x" maybe I need to use the 64x version? (so far it looks like it's compatible with my 64x OS).
And I didn't use any guide for installing VMware since it's just "next, next, next" ... am I wrong?
well...
nothing is just NEXT NEXT NEXT...
please post a Screenshot of your Optionsmenu of VmWare...so we can see, whats wrong,if there is a problem with your options...
regards..
here you can see how it looks like,if the config is correctly
I dont even have the option of local\remote... :S
