Well instead of coming onto the internet for medical advice, speak to your mum and dad. They'll find you some special over-the-counter throat medicine.
Too bad, it's 1:30 am here, and i can't do any shit about it.
The easiest and most effective way to cure a sore throat is to man up and deal with it. If it persists/gets worse for 3 days then talk to your parents.

And it's got noticeably worse, as in a lot of pain and not just a minor nuissance?

It's probably just a cold/flu. Sore throat goes away quickly, just take over the counter meds and stay home, while you show symptoms you're contagious.

Make a drink from hot water with clear honey, lemon juice and a splash of whiskey
Green tea with a spoonful of honey and a squeeze of a lemon wedge. I don't like the lemon myself, but tea with honey is delicious. Either that of go get cold/flu tablets.
Sore throats are caused due to change of weather or drinking cold liquid.
Sore throat has no cure because its a virus only medicines to avoid you suffering from pain, you just need to wait till it goes away.
It takes a really long time till i get fully cured from flues and sore throats, im suffering flue for about 1 month ago. really bad flue has bad side effects, lots of mucus in your throat which makes your voice sound like shit and usually will wake up with a blocked nose.
drink any something hot
and take paracetamol or aspirin to decrease the pain
Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride to cure the running nose and sneezing
and may be an antibiotic to kill the caustaive organism
Eat fruits - they help too
strawberries.

Use honey, eat it... anyhow i beat you.. i had swine flu for over 2weeks... being sick every 20minutes to 6 hours, was 7stone... once it went i was 4 and a half... could only drink water and eat stupid small biscuits :/ i still managed to come on here :D
