DEFCON Tips
Hey, everybody...
First off, if you do not own a game called either DEFCON and/or DEFCON: Everybody Dies, this thread will be absolutely useless to you unless you plan on buying the game in the future, and I advise you to turn around...
That aside, let's get started. DEFCON has to be one of the finest cheap strategy games I've played, mainly because of the idea of a global-thermonuclear-war. I advise you get it for some basic fun. Now, to players who know the game, here are some tips I've discovered for you -
1. Always, always, put radar on the edges of your continent so you can see the enemy. You never know what he might be putting at your borders.
2. Always use fighter planes as recon. Send them into enemy territory and memorize their weapon array quickly.
3. When the DEFCON level hits 3, turn anti-submarine on quickly, because that's when enemy subs start pushing through the gaps in your defensive lines and arming MRBM's against your country (and trust me, when there is subs at your borders, MRBM's are the most effective missiles in the game).
4. When the enemy turns their air-defense systems into silos, you do the same, and nuke the crap out of their silos, airbases, and big cities with 3 or 4 of your own silos (you still want defense)
5. Go for the bigger targets in your first salvo strikes (cities with 10m+ people, airbases and silos) and mop up the rest with MRBM's, spare ICBM's, and SRBM's dropped from your bombers.
That said, I think you may have a more pleasant earth destroying experience with DEFCON.
