Priston Tale 2 - v0010 Early Beta
A comment in another thread encouraged me to share this. It's kind of "off-topic" but no more than Laxe Lore share and discussions, and if there is ever an "2nd Enigma" Forum it can be moved.
This is not the version I played and quit because it was complete rubbish. But a little while after that, I also thought that it may have resources in it that could be useful to make something else as we do with Laxe Lore. And went and found the earliest copy I could.
I've never really opened it, so I can't say how close it is to what I originally played as the PT2 Beta, or how close it is to what is now PT2. (apparently totally different) All I know is that it is an "old" version of the PT2 client. I don't even know what language it's in.
But, as others here may be interested in it's secrets... it may be easier to trace it's packets or break it's securities, or give other insights into any development of a modern PT2 server, I can think of lots of reasons why you may want a copy.
--- EDIT ---
Okay... I just looked at the files. The .OGG music is nice, the other sounds are some obfuscated Mpeg stream by the looks of things. The client is clearly newer than the one I played because it bears the UT and Speedtree logos that mine didn't. IDK what other treasures you may find in it. Good luck.
--- EDIT ---
Credit!
None of this is my work. I hadn't even looked at the files before I posted them up.
I trawled the web looking for PT2 files when the EU closed Beta server was shut down, just because I saw the possibility of these files becoming a rare commodity in the near future, and this was what I found.
This file is as I got it, as it was distributed on one of the MMO gaming sites. (not that I can remember which one) It should be accurate to what YD-Online where posting up as closed beta around the time the EU beta was closed. But as I say... I only played for about 4 days after I got my "invitation" because what I saw was complete rubbish, and certainly nothing like I would expect from a modern MMO, or PT. This is clearly much newer than that.
Take it or leave it. It's YD abandonware as far as I'm concerned. It's no good to connect to any current server, but that doesn't mean it's out of copyright. It was freely distributed at the time it was "current" so I don't see why it shouldn't still be so. I haven't installed, or read the Ts & Cs either though.
Re: Priston Tale 2 - v0010 Early Beta
Neato :) People will need a premium Megaupload account to download it though since it's over 1GB.
Re: Priston Tale 2 - v0010 Early Beta
PT2 in PT1 forum, yuck that's gross :)
Maybe 2shared.com? I did not found any info about share limit there...
If this will be moved than here are some PT2 UnrealScript files:
2shared - download PT2_UnrealScript _Classes.rar
Re: Priston Tale 2 - v0010 Early Beta
I do apologise. I'm re-hosting on Depsit. It uploaded in less that a second. (in fact, faster than I can open my start menu) which is odd on a 2MB/Sec line, so I didn't think there would be a problem. Also, it just asked me to confirm I'm a human when I first tried the link. I can't transfer 1Gig from one PC to another on my LAN in the time it uploaded... very odd.
Re: Priston Tale 2 - v0010 Early Beta
I'm wondering how is this a release ?
Laxe Lore weapons converted to PT format : yes.
Edited .exe files (with or without a whole repack arround) : yes.
Scripts : yes.
This : no. This is just an installer that was already release before by the legit owners. If it's for studying it, it's more of a resource file :
http://forum.ragezone.com/f286/resou...ad-rft-242297/ .
Isn't there more efficient way to cure you attentiowhorism than posting this bob (: ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm editing my post to answer below.
I still believe it doesn't have its place here. And if it doesn't have its place in the Resource thread either, then it could be just posted in the parent "Priston Tale" forum.
Oh and for attentionwhorism (sorry for the typo above) (attention whore + -ism) it's just a word to describe people massively posting, often alot of text, often with (almost) no useful information, and alot of personal stuff about their life. Just to show the world they exist. If that's not what you're doing, they I missunderstood your way of posting, but you gotta admit it looks alot like it.
This closing the debate about your attentionwhorism. And as you said, I'm ignoring this post for now on (: .
Re: Priston Tale 2 - v0010 Early Beta
I agree it shouldn't really be here and doesn't really count as a release.
It is for examination if you want to try and make a PT2 Server, or just use the resources in this for something PT1 related.
It doesn't belong in RFT thread though, for many reasons.
a) It's nothing to do with PT1 (why I've had it on my desktop and not shared before)
b) RFT is dead... very few people look there and those who do usually come away disappointed.
c) RFT thread deadness is why Release section was created... so people could find things without reading a million and one irrelevant posts and dead links.
Where do *I* think it belongs? In the PT2 RZ form, not the Priston Tale forum. Alas, there isn't one. So it can either get lost in the "other MMOs" forum, (where an thread link may be appropriate) or it can sit here where people who are interested can find it, and those who aren't can ignore it.
Why am I posting it here? Because 2 people in the last week have asked about PT2 files, "why don't we work on them" and "shouldn't we start archiving old ones so we don't have the trouble we have with PT1 now in years to come". (to paraphrase the posts I'm referring to)
Okay?
I should add credit to initial post though. As none of this is my work. I just found it on the web a couple of years ago and hoarded it in case anyone wanted it. This felt like the time.
It's your prerogative to disagree with that assessment, but I take some offence to a made up word like "attentiowhorism" when I'm only trying to help those who come here looking for something which (while not entirely appropriate) is about their best option to look for it.
I also agree with Vormavs' "PT2 in PT1 forum, yuck that's gross :)" but when people ask for it, I can see it's already hard to find, I have it, and though the link is tenuous, it is present, I will share. If the Admins want to move, or remove that's fine... but DKs reaction would suggest my compromise was about as good as it could be.
Re: Priston Tale 2 - v0010 Early Beta
I have played PT2 and it is really PT1 with a twist. If you open the PT2.exe with PE or CCF you will find the same secrions as PT1. who knows what gems are in there. Gamerkraft released it.
Re: Priston Tale 2 - v0010 Early Beta
PE Section Names are defined by the Linker, often with the ability of the Compiler to define extra, or override existing section names.
So if you only mean it has the same section names... you are only saying it was also compiled with Microsoft Dev Studio. (not a big surprise)
If there are any data tables, or code which is similar, then I would be surprised.
