Ok so who here (still) plays WoW?
Yeah that's right... I've been playing WoW and for nearly 10 months now.
While I clock quite a few hours, it's mostly afking, like right now, been afk for like 2 hours, just pressing escape every once in a while. :P
Got 2 level 80's, Paladin Prot/Holy and Hunter Surv(pve)/MM(pvp), got lots of 60+ though due to being recruited by someone and had 2 RaF's on me.
The game can get boring at moments, but you just have to find new ways to amuse yourself, like building a new pvp twink and get Ironman at lvl10
YouTube - World of Warcraft - Ironman at level 10!
Anyway, although that char is Horde, my mains are Alliance on Trollbane EU. If you happen to play there hit me up, if you don't play there then start playing there. Otherwise if I know you then PM me with your real id, atleast we can have a chat. Please don't bother if I don't know you.

Re: Ok so who here (still) plays WoW?
I play in Exodar Americas. Only been playing for about 2 weeks now, and gotta say... it's way better than I thought it was. I used to think it was a stupid game because of all the private servers I tried beforehand.
-
Re: Ok so who here (still) plays WoW?
Tbh private servers ruin most games, some games are still fine with them, especially when balanced and kept as normal as possible, but most other games get messed up due to broken systems, not enough people, to high droprates and even though most of the game is played at max level, due to high experience you don't really learn to play your char, all of these things make a game less fun.
If I want to PvP I can click to enter a BG and I pretty much got 1 instantly, if I want arena then that's instant, if I want a dungeon then that's instant aswell (atleast as Tank, not as dps :P) etc, on top of that due to the huge community, both on the server self and the battlegroups (bunch of servers linked together who do dungeons, battlegrounds etc together to increase chance of finding a group), there is just much more to do, a bigger challenge, these servers don't die out, won't go offline for ages.
I've played many private servers, but aside from Legend of Mir 2 and 3 (for which we had the official files) none of the games really did it for me.

lol and that's my downfall. I'm a 33 DPS Paladin. It takes literally an hour+ to get into an instance. I hate it. Especially since I'm new to the game, and when trying to follow a guide, if I'm level 32 or something, I have to start the guide from 30. You can't skip to your levels' part of the guide because of pre-req quests so I'm like screwed without instances...
-
Re: Ok so who here (still) plays WoW?
Don't follow guides, tbh not really worth it, especially if you do dungeons in between.
Just download questhelper, go to a area of your level, and start questing somewhere. Will all work out.
Stranglethorn would be best at lvl33, though if you are on a PvP server expect to be ganked by some sad lvl80 losers (personally I never kill people below 80 on my 80's or less then 5 lvls below my current level on non-80's), if it's a PvE then it's fine.
Like I said, just start somewhere, in this case in your starting camp, not sure if you are Ally or Horde, but just start there and it should be fine.
As for DPS and dungeon finder, yeah that can be quite annoying, and when you finally get one you have the chance of getting one of those n00bs who think they can still 'tank' in dps spec with a 2h weapon and all.

Re: Ok so who here (still) plays WoW?
Change servers then DD^.^
Should only take a couple of minutes to get into a server. I'm on Dark Iron right now. Although SC2 is taking up all my time atm.

Re: Ok so who here (still) plays WoW?
I would, but my neighbor is the one that got me into the game and he plays on Exodar. It's a PvE as far as I know. I mean... whenever someone wants to fight me, they always have to request it, so I'm assuming that's PvE? As for the whole DPS-tank thing, I can actually tank for being a DPS lol. Sad part is, I've tanked better than most of the tanks I've run instances with.

Re: Ok so who here (still) plays WoW?
I still play WoW, and eagerly awaiting Cataclysm... :P
Got a lvl 80 Priest, Warrior and Lock, 70ish Rogue and Mage, 30ish Druid, Hunter, Paladin.
Don't have a Shaman or DK yet though.
:B
With regards to Private Servers, they are just pure wank...

But that's the thing, you think you can tank, trust me, I've tanked my way through all these levels and I can tell the difference, you can take way bigger groups without healers having a problem keeping you alive, because of these groups you can easily top the DPS etc, but having those defense skills plus your shield makes a huge difference.
I mean a while ago I've done a 80 HC with just a mage and warlock, no healer, that doesn't mean I can really tank without a healer, but if needed I can take smaller groups etc and it will work.

Re: Ok so who here (still) plays WoW?
I'd love to play again but I just can't afford the 15 bucks a month.

Oh no no, I'm not saying I'm an amazing tank. All I'm saying is that, for a DPS, I can tank pretty good. Sure, I can't take groups of 7+ without a healer, but I hold my own against 3-4 elites in an instance without a healer or my life going to shit. I was a tank build for awhile, but then read a guide saying DPS level'd faster (which I'm now doubting) so I changed my specs, and I agree with you that I could handle more when I was a tank than now lol

Re: Ok so who here (still) plays WoW?
I tried the WoW trial, didn't like it.
Never going to play that game again. It's just not my type of game.
-
Re: Ok so who here (still) plays WoW?
i kinda play it, i only log on for arenas and i think my sub ends in 14 days lol.the pve aspect is easy and arenas were the only challenging part. i got my t2 and full wrathful and my happy now so i stopped playing, i might come back in cata

Yeah I don't know if retri really levels faster, the damage output is higher, but survivability is down and the larger the groups are, the more damage consecration does.
Especially in WotLK I found prot spec awesome, dying is just really hard.
Right now I'm looking to ditch Holy (I never heal really) and go Protribution, it's a spec mostly made for Arena, uses most points in Prot, but the skills that are good for PvP so less mana use, CD on Hammer of Justice down etc, with that build you can do almost as much damage as a retri while being able to take much more damage.
The real advantage with retri is with large packs with a good tank.
