GM Mode

How can i be GM in the BPT game.exe? I can log-in, walk etc, but i cant find a hotuk.ini that allows me admin powers.

File BPT don't have active GM mode in client.

and what about removing x-trap of bpt and the checksums do pick drop items? Its a pitty, i can login but i cant pick anything...

Drop items (what monster drops what) is not determined by PT client. That is defined in the \GameServer\Monster\*.inf files.

I also now realise you are talking about PTBr (the official Brazillian PT) not BPT, the custom PT client. The Brazilian PT (PTBr) does contain Admin mode in it's hotuk.ini, and can use it... however, the code is encrypted, and X-Trap decrypts it only if it can confirm that you are using valid PTBr client on official Brazillian servers, and from an officially recognised GM / Debug IP. Those factors are part of the "key" to decrypting the routines. The actual decryption is performed on X-Traps servers, and it is the X-Trap DLLs which pass the decrypted routines back to the client.

Quite clever really. And it makes PTBr clients fairly useless to us for developing, except that we can import the Korean GM subroutines into the PTBr client, and we can export the language dependant text strings and image resources into a Korean Client... or a Japanese one or such.

EPT is using a similar method on their client with their GM mode now... but PTBr is more advanced. EPT (Suba) and PTBr development teams are working closely together, to the extent that some of the PTBr clients still have the Suba splash screen in the resource section, with red "paint" over it, which is never called. XD

PTBr still has better server side security than EPT, despite the fact that they have changed part of the network protocol making their current client useless on our private servers, and EPT have a more secure client than KPT or JPT, or even CPT. But the PTVn client (the official Vietnamese release) has the most intricate client side securities. Even so, they don't use as much of the potential (which is probably rented) of the X-Trap security system.

You are such a teacher bob! Its an awesome thing this X-trap <> GM validations. Is it possible to "crack" it so we can login as GM without the X-trap validation?
If not, there is no problem, in fact, I just want to use the bPT client for normal players.

And what about the drop, I mean, drops appears, but the question is: When I click in the item, it doesnt go to my inventory.

I think its not so simple. As bob said, X-TRAP is responsable to login as gm too.

Bob, theres is no need to remove x-trap, i read you info about your KPT 1977 game. You said there was a Thread that keeps checking x-trap. I try and I removed x-trap succesfully. Now, my only problem is i cant pick any drops :(

You need a different server to pick up drops with a current English or Brazilian client. BrAzuks' information was correct for older Brazilian clients, but you remember I said EPT has changed something in their socket protocol? It seems PTBr have done the same. I said they where working closely together. :wink:

We don't yet have a server patched to support this new protocol.

And, no, it's not necessary to "remove" X-Trap. Some private servers have managed to create an X-Trap server emulator. I don't think it's advanced enough to decrypt and fix the PTBr hotuk commands however. To do that, your best bet is to transplant the instructions from KPT or jPT. (or maybe an older version of PTBr, before the extra X-Trap code encryption was implemented?)

By all accounts, it's easier to translate a Korean PT client, and they support the newest "features" of the game which are still "pending" implementation on EPT and PTBr. (though PTBr usually has more implemented than EPT) And I'm talking about things like Smelting and Metallurgy and Dun9 and ET3 and so on. (some of which are things we are still working to get implemented in our servers)

No... (nothing is truly impossible) You / we need to locate, understand, and reverse the new packet encoding EPT and PTBr are using to manage drops. Then implement the reverse of it in the server.exe.

Nobody has done so, and probably most people are more interested in getting the extra features of the latest KPT or PTVn to work flawlessly with our existing servers.

Especially as this produces more visible positive gain for about 10% or the effort of getting a less advanced client with some new trick up it's sleeve to stop us using it to work and do less for us than a translated Korean client.
