Questions about Programs to make a PW Server

hi guys, i have many noob questions, if can answer-me

*What is better, MSSQL or MySQL to make a PW Server?
*What is used to Official Perfect World.. MySQL or SQL?
*I can make a server on CentOS 5.X or other CentOS?
*If i translate my cliente with only language files, can bug my Client?
*What machine configuration is better to make a server like RAM, Processor etc..?
*The server run with OS 64Bits?

Sure, MySQL is the best for any kind of games and databases. MSSQL sucks xD.

The official uses MySQL, I know it because one day I entered on pwdatabase, and it was a error "Error: function mysql_connect", but now its fixed.

You can use Level Up Games BR files, its on configs.pck "item_ext_desc.txt, item_desc, task_error, etc..." But the itens in the elements.data you must traduct one by one, so I suggest you don't try, because it will take some time e.ê.

The MINIMUM configuration for a server is 4 GB RAM, Core 2 duo +, 10 MB uplink

The RECOMMENDED is 8 GB RAM, Core 2 Quad +, 100 MB Uplink.

You MUST use Linux to create your server, because other emulators like coLinux, Vbox, cannot support many players. I suggest Linux Ubuntu.

Depending on what you mean with "many" thats true. I tried running vbox with more than 20 players ( i know thats not "many" ) on a 500 down and 500 up SDSL line. We had no lag :D:

yea +2 on your exact definition of 'how many' I have ran around 100 players on a LAN before, on VMWare :p

This alone proves that the #1 most important factor is bandwidth alone, without good bandwidth availability nothing else matters! (You could have a top notch machine with 32GB of ram etc... but if you do not have sufficient bandwidth, it's gonna be junk for something like this!)

edit-- of course I do not refute that it is better to run a server on a dedicated machine, I cannot stress enough that the #1 most important thing if you are actually planning on running a server where you will expect many users, would be bandwidth before ANY other factors!

You are going to need more RAM then that if you want all the instances up at once. 8 GB will allow most of them to run though, main world alone needs about 1 GB

But like 343 said, you need bandwidth or you could be running on a Cray Supercomputer and end up having lots of lag and a crap experience playing on it.

yep i know about bandwidth, and too i'll buy a new machine with more RAM because this machine support just 8GB , my connection is 100MB
