my first try at making a site, criticism much usefull appreciated

the bottom boxes were for News Updates and randoms

Everything below menu sucks.
Remove thick borders, loosen up font in the footer.
Also you are wasting too much space. Above and below that perpendicular in the middle. Remove that black circle behind it. Move white squares up, align their top. Move footer together with black bg up, about half way behind the white boxes ;)

I Suggest you google, Guides and rulers, Snap to grid options on photoshop or any program your using, it will help with neatness and alignment. Always use every bit of space, don't leave blank spaces, it distracts the viewer.

You are absolutely wrong.

White space is really important to a design, the thing which is bad about this particular design is not the white space left, but the use of the space which has content.

A page which uses every bit of space looks crammed and is bad from a user experience point of view.

Sorry, thanks for rephrasing, that's what i meant to say. Particularly to that specific area, Not necessarily the whole layout of the design. (It was midnight, i needed some brain food :D)

i would make the 3 squares dissapear and make the central one show the basic info, then click the bar option. em and make the squares appear when u go moving the mouse around on a sub menu tab. Make em move :3
