Downgraded client is not starting
Ok guys, I will try to explain my problem on a new thread.
First of all, seems that I am the only noob who is having problems with client starting and it is really confusing :?:
Here is what I have done so far:
By following the Ronny's guide on http://forum.ragezone.com/f452/serve...-guide-698047/ I have installed Debian, PWServer, configured everything as described and server is up and working. I have connected to it from remote PC, started without any problems, created an account.
After that i completelly removed PWI from my PC, downloaded the latest client from PWI Official homepage, installed, cloned it to another folder and followed all the directions described on pwd.codeplex.com.
I took the elements.data, gshop.data and tasks.data from my server and placed into the downgrade patch folder, and edited serverslist.txt.. Everything how it was explained.
After that i followed the http://forum.ragezone.com/f452/clien...7/#post5933810 where i found out i need to add suffix to a shortcut "game:cpw".
And then comes the thing what's confusing me:

Maybe you guys have any idea how to translate that or what it means?
Here is the info from log files if that helps:

Re: Downgraded client is not starting
Some things i have found out:
On some old CD's i found a 1.4.1 version of client installation. So I installed it and tried to run. It opened without any crashing. Then I put the elements.data, tasks.data and gshop.data from PWI Downgrade Files into this installation. And no wonders that I got similar error with client crashing. Tried to restore original files back one by one. When i renamed elements.data back to original, client still crashed but this time without giving any error message. It kept crashing unless all 3 files were restored back.
Please, if there is any more info I can give or publish.. let me know. I really feel myself stupid , because most of the people here have got it to work.
P.S. I am using Windows XP SP3? Can that affect the thing somehow?
Thanks!
Re: Downgraded client is not starting

Looks like it is probably the culprit, try using a clean gfx.pck from the PWI client to see if it will start, if that is the cause just do the pwd on it again for the gfx and it should be ok then, I know in the old downgrade I got something similar though I don't think Ronny's should cause that
Re: Downgraded client is not starting
Ty for response, das.
I did that already twice, but will do again to make sure.
Btw, isnt that gfxlist.txt supposed to be there? pwd - Revision 58: /trunk/element/gfx.pck.files/gfx
Ehh and seems that I will be having the same issue as in this thread:
http://forum.ragezone.com/f452/clien...elease-685044/
Atm I am downloading Nikol@'s client to try out.
But as I told before, I was able to run the 1.4.1 version client (only with original elements, gshop, tasks). After that, I noticed I can't see ping from my server. Every file on Debian are edited by following the Ronny's guide, IP addresses are static.
A little explanation on how my PC's are connected:
As I dont have a router at the moment, i am using this PC directly connected to the modem, so it has an external IP from my provider. This PC I am also using as a Client. Another network adapter is configured to share network to 2 other PC's where one of them is PWServer. So its like Modem<->PC(with client on it)<->Ethernet Switch<->PWServer. So, maybe Client is trying to look for my LAN address to the outside?
If so, then the question is, how to force it to look for address inside my LAN?
Things i can do:
I can connect to http://PWI.Server.IP:8080
I can run pwAdmin from it
I can Log on
I can Start all the possible Services
I can make/delete accounts
What I can't do:
Get the http://pwd.codeplex.com/ Client working
Get ping from my Server when connected using wrong Client
P.S.
I am using WinSCP to manage folders on Debian,
I have tried http://pwd.codeplex.com/ elements, tasks, gshop, have tried the ones from Ronny's server, nothing works.
I have triple checked all files for correct IP addresses, there are no [SPACE] between servername and IP but [TAB] instead.
I'm really sorry guys for all this large and heavy explanation.. but english isn't my primary language and i am trying my best!
Thanks!

(and for those of you wondering... yes I do have the entire gnu toolset on my windows machine I love them so much)
Eitherway here is my working gfx.pck (79.1 mb) and the extracted .pck in its entirety (57.3 mb)
Oh and about Ronny's patch thing, he only puts what is changed to make the download smaller and to be quicker then replacing it all in its entirety and allowing merging into currently working clients that have a lot of modifications

Don't use the *.data files inside the PWD's - SERVER - folder with your client... They are not same encoding... Exception for gshop.data
Do the PWD's patch again on your client without touching anything! (or maybe your serverlist.txt)
Re: Downgraded client is not starting
Thank you guys!
I think by reading the Romulan post i understood where my mistake was. Because of my bad english i understood Ronny's guide wrong..
Will try to repack everything without touching any files on client and see what happens.
But i guess my problem with finding my server using client will still be there :/:
EDIT:
I love all of you guys :) My client is up and working, i can connect to my server, and I am happy
The problem really was that i took linux files to use on Windows (dunno what I was thinking)
