DotA's depth of hero skill progression and item builds exceed LoL's by at least tenfold, each hero has a possible 4-5 builds as they were made that way, all with their own counters and such. Which is hilariously sad since it's limited by the Warcraft 3 Engine/War3 Map Scritping Engine.
Many more game modes than LoL(DotA has I think around 30+ different modes); and since games like LoL and HoN came out, the only DotA players left are the legends like myself. It provides a challenging balanced game where you have to use your mind a lot, as well as react quick in a team battle or gank.
Switch feature in DotA; problem with leavers? Switch a player over at random, at vote, or let someone just choose.
6v6 gameplay possible with the DotA 6v6 maps; WTF mode possible with the WTF maps, enjoy your random skills on yoru hero and new skills and hero each time you die?
