How to Open Files and How to Get Server Files
Hello guys. I am a new guy here, and I am totally newbie when it comes to create a new server of Priston Tale, so I ask you to help me, please.
Well, I have installed in my computer the Priston Tale Brasil (bPT). In the game folder, there is the folder Char -> Monster -> (monster name folders). Inside each monster folder there are files in .bmp, .inx, .smd and .smb extensions. I wonder to know how do I do to open these files. I tried to use the Microsoft Office Picture Manager to open the .bmp files, but it doesn't works. I tried to use the Adobe InDesign CS5 to open the .inx, but the program says that is impossible to do that. And I tried to use the Notepad to open the .smd and .smb files, but when the files open everything that appears are multiple unintelligible codes. I believe that the files can be encrypted, but I don't know how to decrypt them. So, how to open these files? How to decrypt them, and that programs use to open them?
And, if is not asking too much, I wonder to know how can I get the server files of monsters and items from a official server (in this case, de Priston Tale Brasil) - the .inf files of the monsters, and (I think) the .txt files from items. Or if someone can get those actual files (from 23/12/2010 towards) of the Priston Tale Brasil (PRISTON TALE BRASIL) to me.
Thank you very much for the patience and for the help!
OBS: I am brazilian, and don't write very well in English. Thanks!
Re: How to Open Files and How to Get Server Files
I have released a tool which decrypts the headers of .tga & .bmp images and textures, (Photoshop / GIMP etc can then edit these) .wav & .bgm RIFF Wave format files. (they can be edited with Audition or Audacity etc.)
.inx files are a binary cache of plain text .ini files which could be opened with Notepad, and the .smb and .smd are a binary cache of the .ase files which are exported meshes and animations for maps, characters and NPC (including monsters) from 3D Studio. There isn't a tool released to convert any of these cached binary files back into the source .ini or .ase files that they came from yet. But there is a release posted containing the .max versions of the maps which you can load and edit in 3D Studio, and export to a .ase file, delete the equivalent cache and the game will rebuild from your edited .ase.
.sin files can be opened in Notepad, as can the .lua scripts for newer particle effects. ^_^

Thank you for the informations! But, where can I find the tool that decrypts the .tga and .bmp?
And, if possible, I wonder if someone can help me with the second question. Thanks!
Re: How to Open Files and How to Get Server Files
Sorry... I must have messed up the URL linking making sure professional tools where pointed too properly.
Of course, there are millions of alternative programs for reading and editing these *very common* format files. There are also a lot of other tools which do the same or similar job to my PT File Patcher, the earliest versions I know of where the BMP, TGA and WAV patch programs released by Obscura. But there are others, graphical and command line based.
BTW: PTBr pay a license to Triglow Pictures, (now wholly owned by Yedang Online I believe) for the privileged of being the sole legal provider of Priston Tale in Brazil... If anyone has access to the files, and dosn't work for PTBr or Yedang, they are under a strict confidentiality contract not to share those files with the general public.
If anyone has had (illegal) access to those files, we don't want to see them or discuss sharing them on this site. (as per Rule 21)
Thank you. :D:

Ooops, sorry then...
Re: How to Open Files and How to Get Server Files
That's okay... what you really want is a data-set of files which "mimic" the PTBr files as closely as possible.
Many of the releases on MIB do that quite well, but we also have Edition PK 1.7 released here by Rx8. Now, I don't know how similar to PTBr these server files are, because I don't play the official PTBr, but the language is certainly all Brazilian Portuguese, and the credits listed for the server are some of the best known Brazilian PT developers.
From what I can gather (not speaking Portuguese natively) these files, and their creators are quite well respected. They may suit your needs? Or they may simply provide a good base for your own developments.
Either way, I wish you the best of luck. :D:
