[GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
Honestly I find that big bang is just an excuse. NEXON has already failed to please their players and now with this recent big bang patch, I find that this is NEXON's method of starting "new" again. This fact is pretty self-evident when we see NEXON looking for opportunities to draw their old players back with some reward of NX, easier leveling, promises of fun updates.
So, whats your take on how NEXON is trying to attract players. Is it working or is it another failed attempt?
Re: [GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
I think it sucks, scania is so full I don't even want to play my Aran on it, El Nido is just plainly empty, I found it easier to train and merch before.
Re: [GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
Failure, again.
If they want to make me happy they'll downgrade back to 55/62 :D
Re: [GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
Umm no, definitely wrong. It's for sure a success. Their attempt at attracting players is definitely working. The channels are way more filled, they have thousands more players online, and they got people that played private servers back (proof on this forum itself). That is definitely a success.
The question is not "Are you enjoying it" but "Is it successful". There is a difference between these questions. I personally hate the new GMS. I don't like the new skills, the new layout, the new PQs, but I agree their attempt at drawing people back is working.
Re: [GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
Try to make your own game, do your own strategy, watch them fail harden than NEXON does and then try to critic the company.
Re: [GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
Personally, I enjoyed it since I was able to get to 100, something I've never done before. Now... I'm starting to hate the restrictions due to the accuracy formula. To me, if they change that, then I'll be completely happy. I hate how, regardless of how godly your equips are, you're still forced to train on the same mobs more or less as you would if you were poor. Once they change it, then Big Bang in my opinion will be the greatest thing they have done. On the topic of it being a smart move... you're damn right it was. They increased their player base, brought back old members, and made it easier for newer people. It was a very smart move on their part.
Re: [GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
Very well put Shawn. Nobody can build his statement up anymore.
Re: [GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
It drew my money back to that company, I will be the first to admit i went back to play, bought some Nx and played in Zenith, got to level 100 and kinda left to do other things. They did a great job at bringing back older players who previously left due to the grind, and it honestly makes it easier for someone who has played private servers to go back to GMS, great update.
Re: [GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
To me it was a success, because The big bang patch attracted alot of players and old players as stated before, take me for example:I NEVER played gms since v62 because of the release of pirates came out ( I think ) now I replayed on v93 which for some reason I found it strange, its just the content that Nexon put and their 'New MapleStory World' stuff really get some players to come back, I know around 20 people/friends that rejoined them for the same reason:The promises they make:'New world' 'Maplestory will never be the same' ..Well that's my theory on this.

wtf are you talking about? a company should listen to their customers/players. obv they'll get criticism but that's not implying x person can do better.
Re: [GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
I don't think they would totally rewrite maple only for it to be a filler o_O
Re: [GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
Big Bang was a success. I created a battle mage and within around one week I reached level 80. That may mean nothing to others, but to me it was a lame accomplishment, but an accomplishment in the least. I got my cb from 88-102 in about 4 days as well, also an accomplishment. I am getting too old for MapleStory, so it gets less fun everytime I play.. and I'm trying to keep up with it now. But I'd wholeheartedly say that Big Bang was successful; they've made me and many others return to GMS, the exp curve is a giant improvement, and making mesos has also become much easier. There's just a few things I dislike about the update, the 2x exp NX card deductions (I think they should have just upped the price a little), and the map changes. I dislike some of the maps, but most of them are okay. And really? The new UI is preventing you from playing? Get over yourself kid.
You guys have something to say about everything Nexon does because you have a biased mindset. Since you're involved in the private server community, and you've been shut down by Nexon... you have a personal vendetta against them. You take what they do, and find the absolute worst things about it and then you completely exaggerate them. If you think new classes and map changes are changing the game and making it unplayable, then you obviously have never played any other game.
Compare what you do in your private servers to Nexon's changes. You guys have 100-5000x exp servers, and you take away from Nexon's userbase. What are their options? To raise their exp or keep it the same. Well, obviously if users are playing more private servers, Nexon has to listen to the public. Players want fast leveling and exp? Nexon increases the exp curve. Players go to private servers for new experiences such as maps, "occupations," etc. Nexon tries to act upon this by changing up the maps a little and actually brining in occupations - once again, to meet the player's needs. What I used to see on here all the time was "Nexon is money-hungry and greedy." and that was backed up mostly by the 2x exp card. Okay, they get rid of that and create an exp curve. What happens? You complain. Whatever Nexon does, you'll complain about it. So stop making these threads and accept the SUCCESSFUL changes.
Before you accuse Nexon of sucking, failing, being money-hungry, and making terrible changes... consider what the whole private server community (yourselves) has done to MapleStory and Nexon's ideals. They want to make up for what they're losing their players to, which is private servers. Give them a break, they're a huge corporation, they can't make everyone happy, sheesh.
Re: [GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
So basically, Nexon doesn't have their own ideas so he's taking private server ideas (higher EXP/maps/occupations)?
Nice post there, Savage, though. I agree with you, some people should just quit hating Nexon.
Re: [GMS] Big Bang a smart move on NEXON's part?
They're not "stealing" ideas, they're trying to incorporate what the userbase wants.

The ideas aren't Nexon's, they're wizet's. All Nexon does is sponsor Wizet. If Wizet doesn't have any "ideas of their own" maplestory wouldn't be around. You guys don't call Ossyria, Leafre, Ludibrium, Aqua Road, none of that is a good idea? I played for an hour yesterday and got from level 13 to level 24, and that was me playing around. Nexon's newest update is a HUGE success. The fact that people talk shit on Nexon for "not having ideas" is the most stupid statement possible. Without Wizet (Nexon, you people seem to forget wizet is the dev team) we wouldn't have this game that we all have grown to love.
As for the Big Bang patch - HUGE success. Yeah, they took out the 2x exp cards which upset some people. Yeah I dislike having to find out where to train by running around - but it gives me something to do that I never did before. When I first started playing Maplestory I was all up for exploring and finding new things, then it grew to where each character had a set place to train..and it got boring. NOW, however, I have to explore again and it's spiced up the gameplay quite a bit. I haven't played either of the new classes, but I've heard good things about them. I prefer the explorer class myself, and not pirate, but that's me. Also, with Big Bang came a new update to the ranking - weekly gained experience. Try hacking now without getting caught. They've done an excellent job over the years satisfying customers, and this is the biggest thing since Bera's summer of 2x exp, mesos, and drops, which I think was an accident. (Still, it was amazing). The userbase has gone up so much since it was introduced, and you guys are saying it wasn't a success. They drew people back to MS? Yes.
They completely renewed the game? Yes.
They made it much easier to play? Yes.
They made it more of an attractive game? Yes.
They made it more fair to players of all calibers and levels? Yes.
Tell me what they did to screw up and make it not be a success, please. They even revamped Kerning PQ! Pot's are much easier to find now, traveling is sorta easier (cab taking you to SW), the FM is FINALLY empty (saw that yesterday - at least in Galicia it is), probably due to the major lag that comes with it, the game is worth playing yet again. If you're anything like me, you got tired of the same old maple around v62. The new classes were intriguing, but not so as they were being raised in the same way as any other class. I've never been "godly" or anything, but it's always had a small amount of fun, and now it's one of my top choices in games. Yes, the private server community has donated TONS towards exciting features, but most of which isn't any major change - just an add-on which makes it even more CPU costly and less stable. Nexon revamped EVERYTHING. That's no small feat. I saw the screenshots of GMS-T with the big bang. NOTHING worked right. Two weeks later look at it? I have but one complaint. I can't find out where to level ):
