NPC Sage Lu

One of my test characters is doing the Lost Empire quest chain (to open the maps in Chrono World), all is fine til up to Sage Lu. Went to chat to him and he wasn't even there lol.

I checked in elements.data, the npc is in there, so I added him using Ronny's npc edit. Went into elements.data and looked at his recieve/activate quests, there's a list of numbers in receive but nothing in activate list. There was also chinese n/a text which I changed to Sage Lu, both client and server side. Quests are in tasks.data too :) Though admittedly I'm a complete noob when it comes to tasks.data.

I also compared him to other npc entries in npcgen.data, but am wondering if I entered something incorrectly? When I click to talk to him, I do not get any response/dialogue box. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

I know I have added ALL the NPCs and MOBs necessary to complete "wraiths ploy", which sounds like what you are working on; as it is the questline to get your 'chrono key' so you can unlock OHT/Old Heavens Tear.

I am using PWD and yes all the necessary NPCs, MOBs, and quests are already in the PWD files. If you are using PWD all you should have to do is add all the necessary NPCs and MOBs to your world NPCGEN (and "SilverFrost" to your 'secret passage' NPCGEN). If you're not using PWD you may have a lot more work cut out for you.

Yep I'm using PWD too, with Ronny's debian serverfiles install :D :thumbup: All the quest npcs and mobs were already there, right up until Sage Lu, who's high up in the NE Obervatory of Archosaur but he wasn't there, I checked NPCgen and he wasn't in it, so I added him to the world map :) He just won't talk when I click on him, which is odd.

Yeah I was worried I'd have a lot of work to do too :p Thankfully everything's there, thanks to Ronny! Thank you for your input :)

ahh you must be using Ronny's NPCGEN too then, I am still using whatever "original" NPCGEN I started with, because I made my own mods; like my custom "chapel guide" that actually replaces the guy that marries you (he's been moved to INSIDE the chapel)... so I had to pull up the quest guide, I went through on 'official' to get 'official' co-ords and then added all the necessary NPCs and MOBs for this quest one at a time [took a little over a whole day doing it that way]...

uhm as far as adding that one NPC and him not working oO ? I'm not too sure what that could or would be, since the tasks.data part was just fine for "wraiths ploy" ... maybe try playing the whole questline with a brand new character just to be sure ?

LMAO Hrace! Thanks for the input guys, but it was a really silly mistake on my part. For me, when editing npcgen.data, if I didn't click OUT of the edited box then save, it would not save my modifications, so Sage Lu was still classed as a mob and not npc :lol::lol: I remembered the first time round when he got stuck in the wall rofl, had to change him from ground to free 3d!

To double check I had the right settings, I re-loaded the npcgen.data, all was good and he's talking to me now :D

LOL I know, especially when you spent ages messing around with files :rolleyes::blushing:

There are much more important NPC and mob missing :D: But you will find them when your players start to complain about that problem :D:

I couldn't entirely make that out,,, but I do know my main concern is only Spiritual Cultivation and Wraiths Ploy, because those would have to be the top two questlines in the game (and wraiths ploy is only a top priority because you NEED access to OHT to finish culti). Anything else will take a seat on the back burner for me :))
