Re: What you like/hate in A3
Like list
13) All character details are server sided including the character movement which makes it very hard or nearly impossible to create teleport hack, map hack, woonz hack, damage hack, vacuum hack, monster non-aggro hack etc. (Believe me I tried creating each one of it :P)
Dislike List
12)There is no inbuilt DLL injection hack and malicious hack software detection engines like GameGuard or XTrap in episode 5 client
Re: What you like/hate in A3
Hate list
14) Ppl come in RZ thinking they can get rich with A3 and want a perfect server in no time without having the slightest knowledge of Databases, Networks, websites, hex stuff etc.
Re: What you like/hate in A3
1) Actoz Sucks. They abandoned the game. So no matter how many Likes you have about the game, it will die down eventually.
Re: What you like/hate in A3
Then what about A3 Returns? Its run by Actoz isn't it?
Re: What you like/hate in A3
Its like a lame bodywork. Nothing else.
Re: What you like/hate in A3
But many players are playing that server though you tell its just a bodywork. I had logged in into the game once and talked to English speaking Korean players. They all seem to enjoy game!
Re: What you like/hate in A3
Thats because they probably haven't stepped out of A3 to see what the MMORPG Industry has in store for them.

True!!! It's already dead, actoz tries to make some money because they also failed as a company and they try to recover.
Though if the community was strong we could try to "buy" the game or request to open source it like other companies did. There are lots of examples out there of teams who brought back from the dead various games.
Re: What you like/hate in A3
Only if it is Open Source. No use of developing the game if we have to take the pain of Olly'ing the Client to keep adding new things.
Re: What you like/hate in A3
True. If some group "buys" the game, it buys the source also. Then it's up to this group to decide if it wants to open source it or not.
In general I fully agree with you, there is no use in "debugging" stuff.
Re: What you like/hate in A3
Even if someone buys the game, they will take a lot of time to understand the code that was written by Actoz when it comes to Functions and Memory Handling. Its better to lookup the assembly and code a Zoneserver from scratch.
The PDB files in the Zoneserver folder are Program debug databases which help us get to know the Functions that are used by the Zoneserver. They can be used to get more idea about how the Zoneserver performs.
For instance, if you click on an NPC, the Following happens in a Zoneserver.
1. Data is received by the Zoneserver from the Zoneagent
2. Data is decoded based on the Encryption Key and the Version of the Client.
3. The Packet IDs are used to determine which Packet it is.
4. Once the Packet is determined, the appropriate function is called.
5. The Click on NPC Function usually checks the distance of the NPC From player. It also checks if the player is a Murderer or not. This is done inorder to make sure that the player doesn't client hack.
6. We can get to know the above because we already know the names of the functions which are being called. So it makes our work easier.
7. Now the only part left to do is to create a code in our own login to implement the above.
8. Its a simple Actoz like Zoneserver with a Source Code that you can always expand. (Provided you have the Client that could support the feature that you are implementing).
Re: What you like/hate in A3
Absolutely right, PDB files are a LOT of help
